There’s more to school than lessons.
Your time at St Kentigern’s is about much more than what happens in the classroom.
It’s about friendships, experiences, opportunities, discovering new interests and becoming part of a community.
Whether you love sport, music, performing, helping others, competing, creating, leading or trying something completely new, we want every young person to find opportunities that make their time at St Kentigern’s memorable.
There’s a place for you here.
One school. Three Houses. One community.
When you join St Kentigern’s, you become part of one of our three Houses:
Ninian • Columba • Margaret
Your House gives you an identity and a smaller community within the wider school.
Throughout the year, there are opportunities to represent your House, take part in activities and competitions, celebrate achievements and contribute to House events.
But whichever House you belong to, we are all part of one St Kentigern’s community.
Different Houses. One school. Everyone belongs.
What will you get involved in?
Secondary school is a chance to discover interests and talents you might not even know you have yet.
There are opportunities to get involved in activities across the school, including:
Sport • Music • Drama • STEM • Art • Clubs • Competitions • Leadership • Caritas • Volunteering • Trips • Culture • Careers • House Activities
Some pupils arrive at St Kentigern’s already knowing exactly what they love.
Others discover it once they get here.
You don’t have to be the best at something to get involved.
Sometimes you just have to be willing to give it a go.
Play. Compete. Represent.
Sport is an important part of life at St Kentigern’s.
There are opportunities to take part recreationally, develop your skills and represent the school.
Whether you’re already involved in sport outside school or simply want to try something different, getting involved is a great way to stay active, develop confidence and meet new people.
Sport also teaches things that matter far beyond the pitch or court:
Teamwork. Resilience. Commitment. Leadership.
And, of course, there’s always the opportunity to represent your House too!
Find your stage.
For some young people, St Kentigern’s is where they first discover a love of performing.
There are opportunities to make music, perform, develop confidence and contribute to events across the life of the school.
Whether you’re happiest performing in front of an audience or working behind the scenes, there are different ways to become involved.
Our performance spaces provide somewhere for pupils to rehearse, create, celebrate and share their talents with our school community.
Your first performance might just be the beginning.
Sometimes the best classroom isn’t a classroom.
Learning can take you far beyond the school building.
Throughout their time at St Kentigern’s, pupils can experience visits, trips, events, competitions and activities that bring learning to life.
These experiences might introduce you to a university, workplace, theatre, sporting venue, cultural experience, STEM opportunity or somewhere completely new.
They help young people see possibilities beyond school and create memories with friends along the way.
We want our pupils to experience the world — not simply learn about it.
Your voice matters.
You don’t need a badge or title to be a leader.
Leadership can mean representing your House, supporting younger pupils, organising an event, helping a charity, contributing ideas or having the confidence to make something better.
Throughout St Kentigern’s, pupils have opportunities to take responsibility and influence the life of their school.
We want young people to develop the confidence to speak up, listen to others and make a positive difference.
This is your school too — and we want you to help shape it.
Putting our values into action.
As a Catholic school, faith and service are an important part of life at St Kentigern’s.
Pupils have opportunities to participate in the faith life of our school through Masses, prayer, reflection and celebrations throughout the year.
But faith at St Kentigern’s is also about how we treat other people.
Through Caritas, charitable activities, volunteering and service to our community, young people are encouraged to look beyond themselves and consider how they can make a difference to others.
Service turns our values into actions.
Everyone brings something to St Kent’s.
Our school community is made up of young people and families with different backgrounds, experiences, interests and talents.
Throughout the year, we create opportunities to celebrate what makes our community special.
From House events and awards to performances, celebrations, Culture Day and whole-school events, there are many moments when we come together as one school.
These are the moments that help turn a school into a community.
At St Kentigern’s, everyone should feel that they belong.
We want to celebrate what you achieve.
Achievement comes in many forms.
It might be an excellent examination result.
But it could also be performing on stage for the first time, representing the school, completing a volunteering award, leading an activity, achieving something in sport, showing resilience or making an important contribution to our community.
We want our young people to be proud of their achievements — both inside and outside the classroom.
Throughout the year, we look for opportunities to recognise and celebrate the many different ways our pupils succeed.
Every achievement tells part of your story.
What Will Your St Kent’s Story Be?
Over your time at St Kentigern’s, you’ll have hundreds of ordinary school days.
But you’ll also have days you remember for years.
The first time you represent your House.
The trip you still talk about with your friends.
The teacher who encourages you to try something new.
The performance you were terrified to take part in.
The competition you didn’t expect to win.
The charity event you helped organise.
The moment you realise you’ve become the older pupil helping someone else through their first few weeks.
These experiences become part of your St Kentigern’s story.
So get involved.
Try something new.
Find your people.
Discover what you’re capable of.
This is life at St Kent’s.
