It’s our mission to inspire and develop the children of tomorrow. “We believe in the power and brilliance of Black children. You are strong, intelligent, and beautiful. We celebrate your unique cultures, traditions, and voices. It’s important to know your history and heritage. You belong, you matter, and you can achieve anything you set your mind to.”
When building positive racial identity in early education (P.R.I.D.E.) involves creating an inclusive affirming environment that acknowledges and celebrates the diverse backgrounds of young children. As I aim to provide young children at Tynee Tots Childcare Center with a well-rounded education, I find it essential to highlight and celebrate the rich and diverse aspects of Black culture and Black experiences. I do this by introducing positive narratives and role models from Black history past and present, I foster a sense of pride, respect, and understanding to the children in our center.
I do some of this work by incorporating stories and learning traditions from our black communities to help children appreciate the beauty of diversity and the strength found in resilience and innovation within black culture. By acknowledging and honoring these contributions, I try to create a more inclusive and empathetic environment where young children can learn and respect their heritage.
I work with my team to ensure that every child have a positive racial identify in early education (P.R.I.D.E.) at Tynee Tots and sees the true value and richness of Black culture that feels empowered by positive legacies and stories that continue to shape our world.
