Focusing on skills & performance development for young athletes. The Southwest Rugby Academy (SWRA) organizes activities in two main areas: rugby ID camps/clinics and competitions/tournaments. The ahtlete must have a USArugby ID # to participate or registered to their local rugby union or rugby federation..
The “Southwest Rugby Academy” is the result of the combined experience acquired by many knowledgable coaches from the world of rugby.
Our ambitions and objectives are mainly focused on developing rugby in the southwest, helping young athletes to improve their skills and their performance so they can reach the next level. We seek to support existing structures (clubs, colleges and teams etc) and help build excellence into rugby community.
*Types of opportunities
Clinics - No cost
Camps - $TBD
Domestic tournament - Player package (TBD)
International tours - Tour package (TBD)
Camps include a series of tests in a combine-style environment that create opportunities for athletes from diverse sporting backgrounds. Players will rotate through different stations that include physical performance testing, general and position specific skills assessments, as well as small-sided games.
Ultimately, the goal is to record top talent from each corner of the rugby playing community and offer high performance opportunities for those top prospects on a yearly basis. With scheduled tours, combines, camps and regional competitions across both fifteens, tens and sevens expected again next year, identified standouts will provide an expanded pool of player selection for these events.
