1. Build a rough proposal website
2. Build interest and get feedback (on top level Vision, mission, values, goals)
3. Get people to provide email addresses
4. Ask people to volunteer/donate services (eg graphic design, basic web design)
5. Ask for some patrons, affiliates and sponsors for seed money (100% guarantee on giving the money back if the thing doesn’t get off the ground)
6. Once you have a good number of email addresses (i.e. evidence of groundswell and some foundations for financial support) go talk to OCA and ask what it would take to become a member (because I think without a seat at that table then the conversation is not really worth having at the federal level)
7. Build a basic website and capacity to capture data and membership revenue
8. Commit to business registration and associated stuff (banking, legals, accounting, etc)
9. Utilise existing resources (eg “blueshirt” website for employee rights) to fill out the website and some basic member benefits
10. Launch – send emails to get people to go to a website
11. Get members (and revenue)
12. Start forming positions on issues (on whatever were the top issues identified in early stage feedback and membership surveys) and start engaging on issues.
13. Start planting the seeds for the structure to have representation in each state (eg with outdoors WA, outdoors NSW, outdoors Vic, etc
14. Continue to develop membership benefits.
