The children need an old t shirt to keep in their schoolbag to use as a paint shirt.
Clever login info will come home on an index card in their pouches. It is a QR code that takes you directly to Clever.com. You can also download the Clever app . On the back of the Clever QR card is your child's Google login info, should we ever need to use Google Classroom. Please leave this card at home somewhere safe, as I do not have copies of the QR codes.
Please have your child practice taking off and putting on sweatshirts and hoodies, including fixing the sleeves by him/herself. Make sure your child's sweatshirts are labeled with his/her name.
Girls are not allowed to wear nail polish in school, nor colored hair.
This week, 4/29, in K1, we will be working on the following topics:
Religion- prayers- Morning prayer, Grace before meals, Guardian Angel prayer, Sign of the Cross, prayers., Our Father, Mary
Math- measuring length, weight, order weight, capacity
ELA- letter Yy, long i-e word families, blending sounds into words, segmenting words into sounds, substituting sounds to make new words.
Sight words- has, play, find, over, where. Word cards will come home in the green or red pouch. Pencils/ crayons, etc. should not be put into the word card pouch, only the cards. Your child should say each word, say the letters in it, then say it again, each word at least 3 times, to help recall by memory. We also use letter actions in school with each word. Word cards can come back on Tuesday, or if more time is needed, Wednesday.
Story- ."We Can Play" .A short story in your child's blue Reading workbook will come home. Have your child read it to you at least 3 times. Make sure he/she starts at the beginning, tracks the words left to right, and uses his/her pointer finger to keep the place. The blue workbook should come back to school on Thursday. Reading with your child is a great way to promote reading skills for the future.
Science- life cycles of eggs/chicks, caterpillars/butterflies
On full days, K1 and K3 dismiss at 2:25 and K2 at 2:30. If someone other than you will be picking up your child, please send in a note on that day with their name. Also, if you need to pick your child up early, a note the day of is necessary.
Please remember to send in a dated absence note with a reason after your child returns to school.
SECRET SHARING : Your child should give 3 clues about the object in his/her bag.
The Secret Sharing schedule is as follows:
Tuesday- folder #s 1-5 Wednesday- folder #s 6-10
Thursday- folder #s 11-15 Friday- folder #s 16-20
Only if your child is absent can they bring in Secret Sharing the next day he/she returns. If he/she forgets, then he/she misses the turn that week. Days off are an exception. Please try to avoid bringing toys for Secret Sharing. No weapons of any type.
K1 WORD CARD INFO:
The children will be receiving a pencil pouch to keep their cards in to study/practice. Other word cards will come home in the pouch for the children to identify by sight. Practice them with your child at home and when your child knows them , please send the current cards back to school. When your child identifies them for me in school twice, I will stamp the card and it may be kept home in a zip loc bag for review and continued practice. On Wednesdays, a short story will come home in their blue Reading workbook. The children should read it a few times, then return it to school the next day to read it to me.
