Welcome to K1 Allstars !

We began our Superstar of the Week. The child will come home with an "All About Me" poster to be completed according to the direction sheet that will come home with it.

All money for snack or lunch must come in a labeled envelope-1 per student.

A reminder that slip-on sneakers are to be work to school, not tie ones.

Clever login info will come home on an index card in their pouches. It is a QR code that takes you to Clever.com. You need to sign in as a student, then use the QR code to get into your child's account. You can also download the Clever app . Please leave this card at home somewhere safe, as I do not have copies of the QR codes. More details to come. These will come home soon. We have started working in the Clever app in school.

Please have your child practice taking off and putting on sweatshirts and hoodies, including fixing the sleeves by him/herself. Make sure your child's sweatshirts are labeled with his/her name on the inner side tag.

Girls are not allowed to wear nail polish in school, nor colored hair. Hair bows/ headbands should be navy blue.

This week, 4/8, in K1, we will be working on the following topics:

Religion- prayers- Morning prayer, Grace before meals, Guardian Angel prayer, Sign of the Cross,, Easter

Math- addition and subtraction review

ELA- Ww, word families

Word cards- no new ones this week. Practice letter cards if your child has them in their pouch.

Story-No new story this week. .A short story will come home. Have your child read it to you at least 3 times. Make sure he/she starts at the beginning, tracks the words left to right, and uses his/her pointer finger to keep the place. Reading with your child is a great way to promote reading skills for the future.

On full days, K1 and K3 dismiss at 2:30 and K2 at 2:35. If someone other than you will be picking up your child, please send in a note on that day with their name. Also, if you need to pick your child up early, a note the day of is necessary.

Please remember to send in a dated absence note with a reason after your child returns to school.

SECRET SHARING: something with the W sound. Your child should give 3 clues about the object in his/her lunchbag -size bag, written on an index card or piece of paper. It is great practice if your child can read the clues.

The Secret Sharing schedule is as follows:

Tuesday- folder #s 1-5 Wednesday- folder #s 6-9

Thursday- folder #s 10-14 Friday- folder #s 15-18

Only if your child is absent can they bring in Secret Sharing the next day he/she returns. If he/she forgets, then he/she misses the turn that week. Days off are an exception. Please try to avoid bringing toys for Secret Sharing. No weapons of any type.

K1 WORD CARD INFO:

The children will be receiving a pencil pouch to keep their cards in to study/practice. Other word cards will come home in the pouch for the children to identify by sight. Practice them with your child at home and when your child knows them , please send the current cards back to school. When your child identifies them for me in school twice, I will stamp the card and it may be kept home in a zip loc bag for review and continued practice. On Wednesdays, a short story will come home . The children should read it a few times, then return it to school the next day to read it to me.
