-Our teachers also have amazing traits and qualifications that cannot be measured by experience and education.

Mrs. Tammy

Mrs. Tammy is the director at Our Children. She has lived in Vanceboro all of her life. She was a star athlete at West Craven High School. As an adult, she received the honor of being inducted into the Hall of Fame at WCHS. She has devoted her life to child care. She worked in childcare for years and also had her own in-home childcare. You will see her in the office, the classrooms, the kitchen, the hall, and anywhere that she is needed. She handles scheduling, food service, curriculum, employee trainings, classroom roosters, and a mountain of paperwork requirements. She knows every child and their personalities and needs. She is very involved in her church and local sporting events. She has been with Our Children for 22 years and actually started before the building was completed. She has 32 years experience in child care. She usually has the answer to any question you may have at Our Children. She has two daughters, three grandsons, and a house full of fur babies. We are so thankful for Mrs. Tammy.

Fun Fact-Mrs. Lisa prayed for God to send someone to help her run the daycare. Then, Mrs. Lisa met Mrs. Tammy on their daughter's girl scout trip. Mrs. Lisa knew God had sent her to Our Children.

Miss Tracy

Ms Tracy retired from teaching Preschool in our four-year-old room. She now works for a Christian radio station full-time and helps us part-time in the office. She has been with our children for 20 years. She has an BS in Education, with honors, from East Carolina University in Early Childhood Education. She is lead teacher qualified by the State of NC and had earned the NC Early Childhood Credential. She is CPR certified, SIDS certified, and fire/safety/first aid certified. She is musically talented and shares her gift with Our Children. She is a recorded songwriter and vocalist. She is very active in her church and loves her fur baby Ellie May. We are thankful for Miss Tracy.

Fun Fact-Miss Tracy is Mrs. Lisa's cousin, but Mrs. Lisa got none of the family's musical talent!

Miss Kim

Ms. Kim has lived in Vanceboro all of her life. She was salutatorian in 2009 at West Craven High School. She graduated from East Carolina University with honors and earned a BS in Education. She also graduated from UNCW with an AIG add-on certification. She taught with Craven County Schools for six years. Ms. Kim has been with Our Children for six years. She is lead teacher qualified by the State of NC and has earned the NC Early Childhood Credential. She is CPR certified, SIDS certified, and fire/safety/first aid certified. She continues to complete trainings to improve her skills as a teacher. She has 21 years experience working with children. She can be found in the nursery with the babies or teaching PreK in the preschool classroom. She loves sharing fun STEM experiments, math skills, and a love for reading and phonics with her PreK students. She loves her fur baby Maddie, church activities, sports, and reading. Ms. Kim states that she loves everything about Our Children Child Care: the children, coworkers, and the environment. We are so thankful to have her as part of our family.

Fun Fact- Mrs. Lisa taught Ms. Kim in Kindergarten!

Mrs. Louise

Mrs. Louise has been with Our Children for 21 years. She has 32 years experience in child care. She drives from Aurora everyday to be with us. She has been married for 16 years. She has three grandchildren. Mrs. Louise attends Hayward Hooker Baptist Church in Aurora. She enjoys singing in the chior there. Ms. Louise works with our youngest children. She has a true love for every baby that enters the nursery . She cares for each baby meticulously and according to their individual needs. She juggles developmental needs, changing, handwashing, feeding, clothes changes, tears, laughter, crawling, first steps, and all things baby, with ease. She is lead teacher qualified by the State of NC and had earned the NC Early Childhood Credential. She is CPR certified, SIDS certified, and fire/safety/first aid certified. She continues to complete trainings to improve her skills as a child care provider. Mrs. Louise enjoys going to church, singing, going out to eat, and just being home. At Our Children Child Care, she enjoys working in the nursery and watching the babies grow and the people that she works with at the center. We are so thankful that God sent us Mrs. Louise.

Fun Fact- Mrs. Louise has never worked in any other classroom except the nursery.

Miss Mel

Ms. Melanie has been with Our Children for 7 years. She has lived in Vanceboro all of her life. She graduated from West Craven High School and attends Pitt Community College. She has 14 college credits in Early Childhood Education. She is lead teacher qualified by the State of NC and had earned the NC Early Childhood Credential. She is CPR certified, SIDS certified, and fire/safety/first aid certified. She continues to complete trainings to improve her skills as a teacher. She can be found in the two-year-old room. We are so happy to have Ms. Mel at Our Children Child Care!

Fun Fact-Mrs. Lisa knew Miss Mel from Vanceboro, but one day Miss Mel checked Mrs. Lisa out at Wal-Mart in New Bern. She was so efficient and had such great customer service that Mrs. Lisa offered her a job. The rest is history.

Mrs. Sam

Mrs. Sam is a Vanceboro native and we are so thankful to have her at our Children Child Care. Mrs. Sam graduated from West Craven High School in Vanceboro. She then graduated from North Carolina Wesleyan University with a degree in psychology and a concentration in exceptional children. She worked at Access Family Services before coming to Our Children Child Care. She is lead teacher qualified by the State of NC and had earned the NC Early Childhood Credential. She is CPR certified, SIDS certified, and fire/safety/first aid certified. She continues to complete trainings to improve her skills as a teacher. She has been married for three years and has a new baby boy in the nursery! She is a member of Holy Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church where she attends with her family. She enjoys baking cheesecake and cookies and hanging out with her two dogs. Ms. Sam also has goats! We are thankful for Mrs. Sam.

Mrs. Cheryl

Mrs. Cheryl is a life-long resident of Vanceboro. She has been married for 20 years and together they have four children. Mrs. Cheryl has been at Our Children Child Care for 20 years. She has 30 years experience in child care. She is amazing with all age groups! Mrs. Cheryl has an Associate's Degree in Applied Science and an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education. She is lead teacher qualified by the State of NC and had earned the NC Early Childhood Credential. She is CPR certified, SIDS certified, and fire/safety/first aid certified. She continues to complete trainings to improve her skills as a teacher. Mrs. Cheryl has been working with children since she was a teenager in her church and as a baby sitter. Mrs. Cheryl attends West Vanceboro Church of God. She enjoys photography and bowling. She takes lots of pictures of the children and does family photos for special occasions. Mrs. Cheryl loves being at Our Children Child Care and wants to be a positive role model for the children. She enjoys preschool and the school-age room. She drives the bus for the after school children. In the summer, she is one of the main teachers on field trip adventures! The kids brighten her day. Our Children Child Care is blessed by Mrs. Cheryl.

Mrs. Jackie

Mrs. Jackie lives in Vanceboro with her husband of 12 years. She has two children and four grandchildren. Her grandson attends Our Children Child Care. Mrs. Jackie has an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education. She has 36 years experience in childcare and owned her own in home daycare for 25 years. She has been at Our Children Child Care for three years. She is lead teacher qualified by the State of NC and had earned the NC Early Childhood Credential. She is CPR certified, SIDS certified, and fire/safety/first aid certified. She continues to complete trainings to improve her skills as a teacher. She cooks up delicious meals everyday for our children and staff. She can also be found in various classrooms early in the morning helping with arrivals. Ms. Jackie can fix anything around the daycare and is a master at coming up with gadgets to make things easier. She is also responsible for all of the themed decorations that brighten up the daycare with every season! Ms. Jackie enjoys building anything, gardening, and sewing. She also has a mini farm in her backyard!! Ms. Jackie enjoys the staff at Our Children Child Care, cooking for everyone, and interacting with all of the kids. We are so thankful for Ms. Jackie and all that she does at Our Children Child Care.

Miss Katelyn

Miss Katelyn Price came to us the way several of our employees have, in that her child was with us first. She has been working at Our Children for four years. Miss Katelyn grew up in Ernul and graduated from West Craven High School. She is very close to completing her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education at Craven Community College. Miss Katelyn has six years experience working with children. She is lead teacher qualified by the State of NC and had earned the NC Early Childhood Credential. She is CPR certified, SIDS certified, and fire/safety/first aid certified. She continues to complete trainings to improve her skills as a teacher. She has two children that both attend Our Children Child Care. Miss Katelyn enjoys the beach, going to the park with her children, shopping at TJ Maxx, and going out to eat. Her favorite thing to do is spend time with her children. She loves the kids, her work family, and the "best bosses" at Our Children Child care. She states that Our Children Child Care "feels like home." We are so blessed to have Miss Katelyn at Our Children Child Care.

Mr. Tristan

Mr. Tristan lives in Vanceboro and attends Holly Hill PH Church. He is originally from Washington, NC. He began his career with Our Children Child Care four years ago. He has been an amazing addition to Our Children Child Care. The children love Mr. Tristan and so do the staff! Mr. Tristan has nine years experience working in child care. He earned an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood and is currently working toward his bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education at The University of Mount Olive. He is lead teacher qualified by the State of NC and had earned the NC Early Childhood Credential. He is CPR certified, SIDS certified, and fire/safety/first aid certified. He continues to complete trainings to improve her skills as a teacher. Mr. Tristan enjoys spending time with family, cooking, reading, church activities, and going on road trips! Mr. Tristan loves how Our Children Child Care has such an amazing staff, administration, and families. He feels that we are all one big, happy family!

Ms. Katie

Ms. Katie is a lifelong resident of Vanceboro. Her and her siblings attended Our Children Child Care while growing up in Vanceboro. Ms. Katie earned a Bachelors Degree, with honors, in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University. She is lead teacher qualified by the State of NC and had earned the NC Early Childhood Credential. She is CPR certified, SIDS certified, and fire/safety/first aid certified. She continues to complete trainings to improve her skills as a teacher. Ms. Katie has five younger brothers! She has experience working with children and has been at Our Children Child Care for three years. She enjoys sewing and is always making holiday outfits for herself that the kids love. She helps mend sheets and anything else that the daycare needs to have sewn. She also enjoys building puzzles and soap making. Ms. Katie enjoys being part of a great work family and caring for the children at Our Children Child Care. We are thankful for Ms. Katie and her full circle from attending daycare at Our Children Child Care to working at Our Children Child Care.

Ms. Anna

Mrs. Anna lives in Ernul. She has been married for 11 years and has six children. She has one grandbaby. Her son came to our Children Child Care as a little boy. She has been at Our Children Child Care for one year. Before that, she worked at Swift Creek Christian Academy and school-age summer camp at Overflow Worship Center in Vanceboro. She is lead teacher qualified by the State of NC and had earned the NC Early Childhood Credential. She is CPR certified, SIDS certified, and fire/safety/first aid certified. She continues to complete trainings to improve her skills as a teacher. Mrs. Anna enjoys spending time with her family, loves her fur babies, and working in her yard. She attends church with her family at Overflow Worship Center. Mrs. Anna enjoys the children at Our Children Child Care, who can make her smile even on a tough day, and believes that her coworkers are the best! Mrs. Anna is the newest member of the Our Children Child Care family and she fits in perfectly.

Ms. Olivia

Mrs. Olivia is a Vanceboro native! She still lives in Vanceboro and has been married for three years. She is the daughter of a career educator and followed suit by graduating with a teaching degree from The East Carolina University Honors College. She has a BS degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education and a minor in Psychology. She is lead teacher qualified by the State of NC and had earned the NC Early Childhood Credential. She is CPR certified, SIDS certified, and fire/safety/first aid certified. She continues to complete trainings to improve her skills as a teacher. Mrs. Olivia grew up caring for children. She has been a nursery volunteer at her church for 14 years. She has been a vacation bible school teacher since she was in high school. Ms. Olivia volunteered at Craven County Schools as well as completing an internship at Croaten High School. Mrs. Olivia attends Calvary Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church. She enjoys cooking, baking, crocheting, and painting. She loves doing art work with the kids and decorating at the daycare. Mrs. Olivia loves her family and the environment at Our Children Child Care. We are very thankful for Mrs. Olivia.

Ms. Christina

Ms. Christina is from the neighboring town of Chocowinity. She has two brothers and one sister. She graduated from Washington High School. She is CPR certified and SIDS trained. She has earned Child Care Credentials 1 and 2. She enjoys spending time with her family and going to the beach. She also enjoys fishing and line dancing! Ms. Christina has a pet pig named MooMoo!!! Pizza and hotdogs are her favorite foods.

Ms. Christina likes the way Our Children Child Care engages with the children and all of the activities that the children get to be involved in at Our Children. She states that it is a great environment for the children and teachers; always full of laughter. She is our newest smile at our Children Child Care and we are so thankful for her.

Mrs. Pam

Ms. Pam lives in Vanceboro with her husband of 13 years and their three children. Ms. Pam is our newest employee and she is a real asset to the Our Children Child Care family. Ms. Pam has a BA degree in Early Childhood Education and a degree in Chemical Dependency Counseling. She is lead teacher qualified by the State of NC and had earned the NC Early Childhood Credential. She is CPR certified, SIDS certified, and fire/safety/first aid certified. She continues to complete trainings to improve her skills as a teacher. She has worked in childcare previously and has several years experience. We met Ms. Pam when she brought her children to us at Our Children Child Care. Once we had a position for her, we were so excited to welcome her to Our Children Child Care. Ms. Pam enjoys riding 4-wheelers, boating, fishing, and hiking! Ms. Pam enjoys the environment at our Children Child Care and the ability to shape her work environment to create an engaging, fun, and caring place for little minds to grow and learn. Ms. Pam loves working with children. She enjoys seeing their minds work and watching them use concepts in the clasroom that she has taught them. Ms. Pam can be seen sitting with the children putting together puzzles and playing learning games. We are blessed to have Ms. Pam at Our Children Child Care.

Mrs. Jessie

Mrs. Jessica has lived in Vanceboro most of her life. She has one son and has been married for 40 years. Her son graduated from Western Carolina University. Previously she owned her own in-home child care for 20 years. She also worked for a center in New Bern for 10 years. She graduated from West Craven High School and attended Craven Community College. She has been at Our Children Child Care for 8 years. She is lead teacher qualified by the State of NC and had earned the NC Early Childhood Credential. She is CPR certified, SIDS certified, and fire/safety/first aid certified. She continues to complete trainings to improve her skills as a teacher. She can be found in the three-year-old room, the office, and the nursery. She enjoys traveling, camping, kayaking, reading, her fur babies, and her family. She enjoys the faith and family presence at our Children Child Care. We are blessed to have Mrs. Jessie.

Fun Fact-Mrs. Lisa was in Mrs. Jessie's wedding when she was 17 years old.

Mr. Jay

Mr. Jay lives in Cove City, NC. He has three sons. He graduted from West Craven High School. He also graduated from Mount Olive College with a concentration in Early Childhood Education. He has worked with children for 28 years. His first job was when he was 15 years old and he worked with PreK children at Wesleyan Outreach in New Bern with Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church. Mr. Jay worked for Craven County Schools as an assistant and as a bus driver before coming to us. He is lead teacher qualified by the State of NC and had earned the NC Early Childhood Credential. He is CPR certified, SIDS certified, and fire/safety/first aid certified. He continues to complete trainings to improve his skills as a teacher. Mr. Jay is also a youth sport's coach and a minister. He attends church at St James AME Zion Church in Maysville, NC where he is also associate pastor. For Halloween, Mr. Jay dressed up as Kindergarten Cop! Mr. Jay has a gift for staying calm and helping children talk through situations. Everyday we are blessed by Mr. Jay.
