Dunedin has a temperate maritime climate. This climate is dominated by a cold front which results in changeable and cloudy weather throughout the year. Summers are not very warm, the hottest month is January with an average temperature of 19 ° Celsius (66 Fahrenheit). Winters are mild but mostly cloudy.
Most precipitation falls in January with 80 mm (3.14 inch) and the least precipitation in September. So despite the beautiful beaches, one can not always count on sunshine.
