With the recent outbreak of the coronavirus, a lot of concern has spread nationwide regarding the state of our healthcare system. And considering it’s a major election for the US this year, candidates have been whipping out jaded policies that “sound” good to Americans, yet only hardly ever benefit those in the upper middle class or higher.

That is, the candidates who are played out are doing this. But one in particular, Bernie Sanders, has something a little different on the table for everyone. And when I say “a little different”, I mean he’s got something revolutionary that would insure every single American while also saving the country from further debt than it already has.

Of course, people have begun questioning how he would pay for it all and what impacts it would have on the “average” American. The problem is that the “average” America has fallen behind the curve anymore, which means loaded with debt, not as educated as they could be, and typically underinsured.

Imagine a system that not only benefits those who can’t afford health insurance but also everyone else who already has it. It helps that the “tax raises” on most people are absolutely negated and end up saving the working class more money than they already do. The problem is, no one seems to see this policy for what it really is. Instead, they hear “democratic socialism” and immediately let their minds wander to a figure who is authoritarian by nature.

This is the last thing anyone could describe Bernie Sanders as.

So, when you think of healthcare, you may think of your monthly insurance bills. The problem is that it extends far beyond this. What about those ostomy supplies you purchased recently? Depending on your insurance and your situation, it’s either covered or it’s costing you the big bucks.

Now, I myself don’t happen to have insurance for a multitude of reasons, so I’m part of that number of uninsured Americans. I don’t have my own ConvaTec ostomy supplies to pay for, but I sure do have other things like contact lenses and dental visits that impact my pockets pretty roughly at the end of the day. So a man like this offering up a revolutionary system that is for the people and not meant to gouge the people . . . That sounds pretty great to me.

Now let’s just hope that America starts to see the bigger picture for what it really is.
