Mostaganem, a coastal Algerian city overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the capital of Mostaganem Province. The population of the metropolis reached more than 445 thousand people in 2018, thus it is the second largest city in western Algeria and the fourth largest coastal city in Algeria.
The city has the second largest port in western Algeria, which is one of the most important ports in Algeria and North Africa. Its economy is based largely on tourism, as it is one of the tourist destinations in Algeria.
It is considered an important cultural and civilizational pole in the Maghreb due to its great history and the succession of civilizations, especially in the Islamic period, and became the most important metropolis of the Algerian West.
Mostaganem is considered the capital of theater, and every year Mostaganem hosts the oldest theater festival on the African level.
It has also witnessed a qualitative leap in the tourism field in recent decades, with the largest tourist expansion area in Algeria, the largest theme park in North Africa, two tram lines, as well as the opening of new sea lines making it the favorite destination for tourists.
