Trips to Pulia and other Towns

Pulia

We spent a couple of days in Pulia. We visited a little town called Ostuni Blanca where all the buildings were white. It was situated high in the mountains overlooking the sea.

We left the hotel at 8:30 to visit a Dairy Farm. It was a huge surprise to find out it was a factory and that they made mozzarella out of the milk ! We got to taste the mozerella it was so tasty compared to the mozerella in Ireland! From there we went to grotto di castellana which was a cave. It was 3Km long and took 2 hours to walk it. It was discovered by Franco Anelli on the 23rd January 1938. It had a huge hole in the roof of the cave letting in light from the outside

Lecce and Matera

We visited Lecce a small coastal town in Pulia.

It was a very beautiful little town with clear water beaches and lovely little boutique style shops. We visited the town in the first part of the day and went to the beach in the evening. We thought it was too cold to get into the water but that didn’t stop the Italians from taking a dip.

We visited the City that won culture city of Europe, Matera. The city is the third oldest in the world. The buildings were carved into the rock! The city was once under water and this was evident by the shells in the walls of the town. We then went to Belvedere it was a lookout, where you could see the town and all the surrounding areas.

Alberobello

Today we went to a town called Alberobello. Alberobello is a town in Italy’s Apulia region. It’s known for its trulli, whitewashed stone huts with conical roofs. At 5pm we left the town to go to the airport. Our 3 week Erasmus programme was sadly coming to an end !
