João Paulo Serafim
João Paulo Serafim is a visual artist who works in various media, his practice has reflected on issues linked to the specificity of the photographic image, the public / private, Museology and its contexts; questioning phenomena such as the collection, its devices and its implications in artistic, critical and social discourse.
In recent years, the artist has worked around the idea of Natural History in the context of these museums and its effects on the reinterpretation of collections, on the landscape, on species and on a contemporary cultural discourse. Through video essays, photographs and the use of objects that form a constellation for a map of ideas that are part of a personal mythology. Where appropriations of the internet and conventional archives intersect, it proposes a contemporary reading of the new dystopian realities into which humans are pushed.
