João Paulo Serafim is a visual artist who works in various media, his practice has reflected on issues linked to the specificity of the photographic image, the public / private, Museology and its contexts; questioning phenomena such as the collection, its devices and its implications in artistic, critical and social discourse.


In recent years, the artist has worked around the idea of ​​Natural History in the context of these museums and its effects on the reinterpretation of collections, on the landscape, on species and on a contemporary cultural discourse. Through video essays, photographs and the use of objects that form a constellation for a map of ideas that are part of a personal mythology. Where appropriations of the internet and conventional archives intersect, it proposes a contemporary reading of the new dystopian realities into which humans are pushed.
