Since the 70s, there have been numerous occasions in which people around the world from various different backgrounds have been disrespectfully adopting elements of one culture or identity by members of another culture or identity in a manner perceived as inappropriate or unacknowledged. 

There are many examples, even from one Google search of 'cultural appropriation examples in....' are endless, so many instances where meanings are lost and traditions are broken and misused. 

Commodification is a big issue.

This practice often disregards the heritage, struggles, and values associated with the culture being appropriated. Addressing this issue requires fostering awareness, respect, and education to ensure that cultural exchange happens ethically, honoring the origins and meanings of the traditions being shared.
