Optica Student Chapter conducted a Treasure Hunt event in IIITDM during Independence Day 2023, which involved searching clues related to freedom fighters using UV light in the institute.

OPTICA GAME NIGHT
LIGHT SHOW- 3rd August, 2022
At the beginning of the semester, a light show was set up on the hostel buildings to draw attention to the OPTICA Student Chapter. During this light show, the lights in the rooms were turned on and off in a synchronized manner to display IIITDM OPTICA.
Inauguration of the Student Chapter-30th June,2021
The OSA IIITDM Student Chapter laid its foundation and celebrated its inauguration with a ceremony on the 30th of June, 2021. The event was graced with the presence of Prof. Balaji Srinivasan, a senior member of OSA from the Electrical Engineering department of IIT Madras.
The ceremony marks its beginning with the Indian patriotic song "Saare Jahaan Se Accha", followed by a welcome address and a brief introduction of the chief guest by the event host S D Sakthi. The event was then addressed by Prof. Banshidhar Majhi, Director of IIITDM Kancheepuram, with the inaugural speech. This was followed by the sagacious keynote speech by the chief guest, Prof. Balaji Srinivasan, where he spoke about the importance of optics and photonics and the advancements in the field.
A tour of the Student Chapter website was exhibited, followed by a speech by Dean Student Affairs, Dr. Naveen Kumar, and another speech by Dr. MD Selvaraj, a Member of IEEE. Then a brief presentation was delivered by the office bearers of the chapter, where an introduction, benefits, and upcoming events of the student chapter were informed.
The formal ceremony was wrapped up with a vote of thanks from our faculty advisor, Dr. Srijith K. followed by the national anthem of India. This was followed by an insightful informal interaction between the attendees, chief guest, prof. Balaji Srinivas, and Dr. Srijith K., the OSA Chapter Advisor.
