Charlotte has lots to offer those who are interested in continuing their swimming throughout the year. There are several great teams, many different locations, and wonderful coaching resources.
There are past and present OP Swim parents who are experienced with most of these teams who would be happy to talk to you -- not only about the teams/programs we have experience with, but also some of the factors to consider when looking at programs and teams. Please let me know if you are interested in a particular team/program, or if you are trying to figure out the difference between two or more, and I can put you in touch with parents who can help.
SWIM LESSONS / CAMPS / CLINICS
Our coaches recommend a program that is geared toward the end goal of preparing for a competitive swim environment; that is, a program that teaches the kids skills that will serve them well in future racing. Many of the year-round teams listed below offer swim lessons/a development team as a way to get started.
Additionally, Queens University offers stroke technique camps and clinics throughout the year.

FALL AND WINTER SWIM LEAGUES
Charlotte has great fall and winter swim leagues.
The Junior Swim League is part of SwimMAC Carolina. They swim in the fall and spring against teams such as the Jewish Community Center.
The Hornet's Nest Swim League runs from December-February. Teams practice a couple of times a week after school and have 4 or so meets during the season. Teams swim from the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center, Marion Diehl, Siskey Y, Charlotte Christian School, the YWCA, and the Jewish Community Center.
YEAR-ROUND SWIM TEAMS
Most teams are holding swim assessments/tryouts during the summer, so it's best to go ahead and get in touch with them. Several of these teams offer different programming options in addition to their competitive teams. An alphabetical listing of teams is below along with links to additional information.
