SWIM MEETS

Meet Entries:

Swimmers can be entered in a maximum of 3 individual events and 2 relays in a swim meet for their age group.  This does not mean that every swimmer WILL be in 3 events.  Part of the purpose of time trials is for additional observation of technique.  The button below links to a document that the stroke and turn judges will use at our regular meets.  This outlines the minimum requirements for a stroke to be 'legal'.  We do not want to enter swimmers in events knowing that the stroke is not 'legal' and will result in a disqualification (DQ).  That is unnecessary.  Swimmers can continue to work on strokes at practice and can/should ask the coaches what is needed to make their strokes legal for a meet.

Heat Sheets:

** Heat sheets will be posted on this site when ready.  This is generally by 3:30pm on the day of an evening meet or the day before a Saturday meet.   Heat sheets will NOT be sold or provided at the meet, so you can print the document or plan to view on your phone.

The events of the meet go in this order: Shrimpers, Medley Relays, Freestyle, Backstroke, Individual Medley, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle Relays.  Each stroke/relay event starts with the youngest age group and goes to the oldest ... girls in the age group first, then boys.

Always:

- Please encourage your swimmers to cheer on their teammates!

- Good sportsmanship is always in style!!  Please remind your swimmers to demonstrate sportsmanlike behavior.  Swimmers should wait in the water until everyone in their heat has finished swimming.  They should high five or say 'good job' to the swimmers in lanes on either side and THEN climb out of the pool.

- Parents and swimmers alike should demonstrate sportsmanlike behavior.  Let's have a great meet and be great guests.

- Please remember that no year-round swim team swimsuits or swim caps may be worn in South Park Swim League (SPSL) swim meets.  Suits cannot have embroidery of a year-round team shown.  Swim caps should be the OP team cap or plain.

- Remember that SPSL does not include seed times on the heat sheets.  So there will be no previous times shown for swimmers.  This is intended to minimize competitiveness.

- No glass containers at the pool!

- Please be sure to clean up any trash in your area before leaving the meet.

- Please encourage your swimmers to do their best and HAVE FUN!  We want summer swim to be a great experience!
