Operative Chaos
Optimizing a process that has interchangeable team members, rooms, equipment and an ever-changing set of procedures is a challenging effort. OpFlow is designed to embrace the changing landscape and multiple moving parts by creating a clearly defined path that allows interchange of people and processes. OpFlow creates a clear set of expectations for how each procedure will function as defined by the surgeon. The surgeon is responsible for the outcome of the surgery, but often doesn’t have control of the process. OpFlow puts the control in the Surgeon’s hands and then executes the process through a transparent set of tools that guide each person through the process. Clear instructions are shared with the team pre-op and peri-op via a Workup step that occurs prior to and at the Time Out of the surgery. Instructions for what each person will do along with the room configuration, equipment setup, patient access, instrumentation that is needed. OpFlow embraces the notion that the only way for a process to improve is build an integrated feedback loop that promotes incremental improvement in each iteration. Transforming surgical processes that hasn’t changed in decades is a process that OpFlow sees as the future of Health Care.
