Determine presence of hostile forces
Identify safe ingress and egress route(s).
Avoid longer exposure
Count Casualties and Bodies
Tally visible bodies and note:
- Position of casualties (implies chokepoints or defensive lines)
- Estimated roles (e.g. medics, officers, radio telephone operators)
- Make sure to sweep surroundings to find less visible bodies
Note: Only tally Swedish regular forces, not resistance or Soviet personnel.
Document Destroyed or Abandoned Equipment
Photograph
- Destroyed vehicles (type, orientation, damage pattern)
- Abandoned weapons, gear, or vehicles
Prioritize
- Armored assets and aircraft
- Communications equipment
- Any unique or unfamiliar equipment
Map Battlefield Layout and Movement Clues
Trace Swedish positions
- Firing lines, dugouts, foxholes
- Retreat directions (tracks, blood trails, dropped gear)
Recover Documents and Markings
Collect or photograph:
- Any intact documents, maps, or personal notebooks
Intent
Examine what the force was likely trying to achieve before being disrupted.
Extract and Report
Prioritize safe withdrawal
Immediately transmit raw findings:
- Photos, sketches, coordinate logs, counts, field notes
