We work around the year in the community by:
Raising awareness in our region of our OPAL group and its mission, letting physically challenged people in our community know they have support
Educating our community of the realities of life with physical challenges, with an aim to reduce barriers and improve mutual understanding and respect
Working as a group, proactively lobbying the appropriate parties our needs as physically challenged individuals and seeking action to remedy obstacles and difficult situations
Increased accessible parking spots in West Perth
Advocated for the installation of an accessible washroom and safe entry ramp at a local church
Advocated for the installation of an accessible washroom in the Mitchell Community Center, with funds from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Contributed plants as part of a downtown Mitchell revitalization project, in conjunction with the municipality
Ongoing support of similar service groups, such as the Multiple Sclerosis Canada, by participating in their fundraisers and awareness activities.
