Please Read Before Applying:
I am looking for the best candidates who satisfy all mandatory qualifications, and it will be a clear advantage to satisfy the non-mandatory qualifications.
Before applying, please make sure that you have the information theory and/or communication theory background in the broad sense. Otherwise, this position is probably not a good match for you. Please also check our current research areas to see if there are matches with your background and interests.
Application process requires you to prepare all documents mentioned in the pdf documents above and to send an email to me via onur.guenlue@tu-dortmund.de with a subject title "w79-25 Doktorand - German level: ____", where you fill in the blank with one of "None, Basic, Intermediate, or Good".
This is a position that requires teaching for the Lehrstuhl für Nachrichtentechnik, which has multiple courses in German in addition to some English ones that I will open in the next two semesters. Therefore, German is a plus. See some of our courses and laboratories here.
We offer you, among others mentioned above,
1) Close supervision to help you have a top-level PhD degree at TU Dortmund, such that you become an independent and responsible researcher at the end of your degree
2) An international, innovative, and highly motivated research environment with close collaborations with top researchers from academia and industry
3) Career coaching to prepare you for academic and/or industry careers after your PhD
4) You will be hired 100% as an employee of TU Dortmund for 3 years with possible extension, which includes full coverage of German public health insurance and other great benefits. You can check with ChatGPT or a similar tool to see what a "TVL-E13" employment at a university includes!
5) A resilient and future-proof approach to future communication and computation systems.
The preferred starting time would be early 2026, but I will be open for discussions also for later times if you pass the first step of short-listing.
Pleasse follow the guidelines and NO random/GPT-written applications without proper background in the research areas mentioned. Looking forward to working with the best candidate!
Note that I expect to open another PhD position soon, so I plan to inform the runner-up candidates who could not get this position to apply to the next one. In any case, please consider checking updates on my personal website or LinkedIn, or similar.
