LOCATION: Havergal College Junior School, 460 Roswell Avenue, Toronto, ON (on the first floor)
(There is plenty of free onsite parking is available.)
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: A journey from the West African roots to the American branching of jazz, with Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman helping guide the tour. This workshop will look particularly at use of 12/8 meter both in traditional Ewe music and its later jazz incarnation, ending with a piece that combines both. Participants who play band or string instruments are welcome to bring them. Included will be some warm-up games for younger students.

LOCATION: The Mabin School - 50 Poplar Plains Rd., Toronto, ON, M4V 2M8
PARKING: The school does NOT have a parking lot, and there is very limited street parking. It is recommended that you park at the Green P Lot at 251 MacPherson Avenue, which is a 5 minute walk from the school.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Sing, move, play and discover new approaches to the Instrumentarium with rhythm, melody, movement, dance and games from the sunny coasts of Jamaica. Kickstart or refresh your Orff-infused process of introducing the Instrumentarium as a skill-based, musical endeavour. Through an engaging, fun-filled process, challenge your students to discover that Giraffes CAN Dance!

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Come experience traditional musical games from the Brazilian childhood culture, using the pedagogical perspective of the Orff-Schulwerk approach, that will involve playing, singing, dancing, and creating. Discover the basic elements of the language and rhythms of popular culture in Brazil, such as samba, baião, and ciranda, among others. The workshop will also include songs written by Thiago, created and based on the Brazilian childhood culture.
