WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: This workshop is an exploration into techniques on ancient and powerful percussion instruments, taking you deep into improvisation and composition. Delve into the four elements of the earth while using movement, drumming and speech to produce a musical and visual tapestry. Playful speech pieces combined with body percussion and unpitched instruments. Plus folk dancing, lots of group interaction, and a serious sense of play and inclusiveness will bring us all together at this workshop. You will leave with tools to apply to your lessons as well as strengthen skills in improvisation and composition.

Harmonizing Cultures: A Musical Journey Through Norouz, Iranian Games & Melodies

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Explore the vibrant traditions of Norouz, the Persian New Year, through games and lively Iranian music in 6/8 and odd meters. Using the Orff approach, we'll dive into movement, play instruments, and improvise together. Learn how to bring these rich cultural experiences into your classroom in a way that's both educational and enjoyable. Get ready to expand your musical horizons and have a great time!

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Sing, move, play and discover new approaches to the Instrumentarium with rhythm, melody, movement, dance and games from the sunny coasts of Jamaica. Kickstart or refresh your Orff-infused process of introducing the Instrumentarium as a skill-based, musical endeavour. Through an engaging, fun-filled process, challenge your students to discover that Giraffes CAN Dance!
