There are lots of resources that an educator can use to support both an asynchronous and synchronous classroom environment. As educators, it is our responsibility to ensure that the learner is given as many tools to support their academic journey. Tools that will help to enhance their learning experience, while also giving the educator the opportunity to ensure that the learner is grasping the full content of the subject specific.
Some tools that have been found to be supportive of both the educator and the learner are listed in the bullet points below:
- I select mind mapping because it is a tool that can be used in many forms. It organizes ideas. Mind mapping it a supportive tool for brainstorming with a group or individually. It encourages the learner to think more in depth about the subject topic. This is such an important tool for creating conversation for discussion both in online and FTF (face-to-face) sessions. When creating the concept mapping it allows the student to investigate the connection of the subject topic. I think that mind mapping is crucial to online learners allowing the learner to get a clear understanding of the course specifics. Some of the mindmaps that I find have the strongest effectiveness are MindMup, Coogle and Text2Mindmap.
- The next resource tool I think is a workable tool for learners are wiki boards. These tools are supportive in discussion forming and allows the educator to communicate with the learners. Wiki boards can be converted to the learners own personal board about subject content, discussing directly about certain specifics of the subject course. This open forum allows for the educator to explore the knowledge level of the learner, while also allowing the student to communicate with the other learners exchanging ideas and knowledge. It supports the educator’s ability to assess the learners knowledge of the course specific
