The peer review I chose was about the learning styles of different learners and helping them to achieve that goal. The Peer Review is called, “ The Effect of learning styles on achievement in different learning environments”(Yilmaz, 2009). The settings took place in three different types of learning environments and the study is being done using Kolb’s Experiential Learning Theory. This theory deals mostly with the cognitive, whereas he believes that knowledge is generated with the modification of experiences. To Kolb (1984), learning style is a method of personal choice to perceive and process information. In this sense, learning style is, on one hand, sensory and, on the other hand, mental (Yilmaz, 2009). This peer review was done with 41 adult learners over a six-month period. This review allows educators to significantly determine what style of environmental learning best meets the needs of the learner. It is recommended that educators use varying styles to best meet the needs of their learners. No two leaners learn alike and so the anticipation of preparing the learner in the appropriate learning environment is critical to support the learning achieving success.
In my computer classes, I try to meet my learners where they are, and expound on that to further support them learning to use the technology. It is important that the learner feels comfortable enough to understand what instructions they are being given, especially when dealing with adult learners. Finding apps and software that supports learning through instructional delivery can demonstrate to the learner the importance of using the tools and the internet collectively.
