Marcos Valderrabano will be lead trainer, he is part of the team of Global Ecosystem Management Programme (GEMP) of IUCN. Prior to joining GEMP in 2020, Marcos was the Coordinator of Ecosystem department at Centre of Mediterranean Cooperation of IUCN.
Marcos has been involved in Red List of Ecosystems since 2014, and have supported RLE trainings in different countries including Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Kenya or Madagascar.
Associate Professor of Conservation Science

Emily is co-chair of Red List of Ecosystems thematic group in the Commission of Ecosystem Management of IUCN. Emily is a conservation scientist, whose research focusses on the implications of global change for species, ecosystems and human wellbeing. She is part of the core team that developed the methodology for the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems.
Emily is also the lead teacher at the MOOC from Deakin University "IUCN Red List of Ecosystems: The Global Standard for Assessing Risks to Ecosystems", that will set up the foundations for this course. For more info look at https://emilynicholson.wordpress.com/

Radhika, a Fijian national, is passionate about participatory and empowering approaches to conservation and brings to this function over 15 years of experience on environment and development issues.
Radhika joined IUCN in 2008 as a Project Officer, she initially led the development of the Islands Initiative and subsequently worked closely with the Commission on Ecosystem Management (CEM) on the development and promotion of Ecosystem based Disaster Risk Reduction, both as a Nature-Based Solution (NBS) concept and as an operational framework.

Nick is an active member of IUCN's Red List of Ecosystem's thematic group and serves as an Associate Editor for Remote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation.. Nick's research focuses on delivering the science necessary to inform large scale environmental management and conservation.
Nick has a particular interest in developing free, open-source analyses, apps and datasets from sensors to support environmental conservation. For more info look at
Founding Director CORDIO
David Obura is a Founding Director of CORDIO East Africa, a knowledge organization supporting sustainability of coral reef and marine systems in the Western Indian Ocean. CORDIO takes research to management and policy, builds capacity, and works with stakeholders, managers and policy makers. CORDIO is also member of the Red list of Ecosystem Partnership since 2019.David’s primary research is on coral reef resilience, in particular to climate change, and the biogeography of the Indian Ocean.
