PAST WORK

THINGS THAT WRIGGLE & SQUIRM

Things That Wriggle & Squirm emerged out of the cohort of The Lemony S Puppet Lab wanting to make work together at a new space provided by Joe Blanck and A Blanck Canvas opening up 'The Playground' at Seaworks Maritime Precinct to artists.

The initial iteration saw Allanah Sarafian (The House of Arax) and Alex Joy (One Orange Sock) come together as co-producers, who put a call out to interested artists. From this pool of 8 artists, 'Puppet Explorations' was born.

The initial performance took place on August 30 at Seaworks Maritime Precinct to an audience og 68 people who paid a $10 ticket to watch the culmination of 8 generative workshops to tie together a loose show about love, death, monsters and worms.

In 2023, Lemony S Puppet Theatre approached Puppet Explorations about re-mounting the work for the 2023 Melbourne Festival of Puppetry. 6 of the original members returned with the addition of Jackson Eather to remount the work in a more holistic and polished sketch comedy over four performanced at La Mama HQ from June 30 - July 3 2023. The performances gave the next generation of puppetry artists a collective platform to show their work and demonstrate their skills.

"A puppet caberet exploring the cycle life and death, bookended by the cautionary tales told by a gang of sentient worms".
