Our Story

#OneLastTime RPG is a "modern" high fantasy alternate universe (AU) of J.R.R. Tolkien's and Peter Jackson's film adaptations of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings saga. Drawing inspiration from ABC's Once Upon A Time story, we have brought iconic and classic characters such as Bilbo, Thorin, Kili, Fili, Galadriel, Thranduil, Legolas, Elrond, Arwen, Azog, and Ungoliant to a place called Middletown, Maine, leaving Middle Earth defenseless to Sauron and his armies as he searches for the One Ring.

Under the effects of a powerful curse, our heroes wander the mortal, modern world with new memories and lives, unaware of their true selves all the while being hunted by shadows and darkness that strikes with lethal precision when they drift perilously close to awakening to remembrance. Leading double lives, retaining their memories of Middle Earth and Middletown are our villains, lieutenants and allies of The Dark Lord; it is they who are tasked with ensuring His enemies remain asleep and powerless to ensure His eternal conquest of Arda.

Prologue

After seven long years and tens of thousands of lives lost...the war was over.

Soldiers return home to find that much has changed for the war was not only fought abroad in the Middle East but also at home. Thanks in no small part to the efforts of Edward Nightingale [Elrond], Middletown has been declared as a free and independent city by President Gideon [Gil-galad] with Edward as it's first appointed Governor. To safeguard their newly rebuilt home, Edward Nightingale [Elrond] calls upon friends and allies to form Middletown's governing body: the White Council.

Among those invited to attend are his brother's in arms: Trenton Forrest [Thranduil], Beda [Beorn], Navy Fleet Admiral Caspian [Círdan], and Gabriel Celandine [Glorfindel]. To temper the warrior spirit, the wise counsel of Sir Solomon White [Saruman], Sir Merlyn Grey [Gandalf], Christopher Goldbloom [Celeborn] and his new wife, Grace Goldbloom [Galadriel], are also invited to attend.

To manage and safeguard an independent city is no small feat yet if they hope to rebuild what was lost and find peace, they must come together in unity.

It's not easy being a teenager. Between hormonal changes and desire to both fit in and stand apart, high school is hard enough. Add in the instability and challenges of establishing and maintaining friendships when one's family is constantly moving, from one town to the next, every few months, and the world can seem like an awfully lonely place.

As Middletown High's newest transplant, Mackenzie Davis [Merenwen] finds a kindred spirit in her French class, Logan Holt [Legolas]. After months of spending time together after school, the two teenagers are in for a harsh reality check and a reminder of what it means to be part of a family.

Alexander Davis [Azog] is forced to introduce his daughter, Mackenzie Davis [Merenwen], to the dark side of their family business. One she is not only expected to participate in but also inherit. Heartbroken and in an act of defiance, Mackenzie Davis [Merenwen] attempts to flee her fate. She is found by Logan Holt [Legolas] who has been instructed to protect her at all costs.

With the disappearance and accusations levied against his son, Logan Holt [Legolas], Trenton Holt [Thranduil] races against the likes of Alexander Davis [Azog] and Brody Davis [Bolg] to find the teenagers first...

Seven years have passed since the mysterious disappearance of Mackenzie Davis. Logan Holt, now known as Lance [Legolas], is attending the University of South Carolina. While attending a Friday night bonfire at the nearby lake with friends, he crosses paths with a young woman, Mya Summers [Merenwen]. Unable to shake the uncanny and eerie sense of familiarity, the pair spend the following three day weekend together.

While Lance [Legolas] struggles to puzzle over the strange coincidences and similarities that Mya Summers [Merenwen] bears with his missing high school girlfriend, Mackenzie Davis, Mya Summers [Merenwen] returns home to face the consequences of her own actions. Afterall, she's broken the number one family rule: don't sleep with the Enemy.

One chance meeting was all it took to begin unraveling the seven years of time and training Alexander Orton [Azog] has invested in Mya Summers [Merenwen]. Can he salvage the situation before history repeats itself? Will Bradley Orton [Bolg] finally fulfill his promise and break Mya Summers [Merenwen]? Or will Uriana [Ungoliant] break all alliances and treaties?

Season 1

Half had grown still as the eagles chased the last of the orc armies back into the depths of the mealworm holes, any remaining forces on foot retreated to the ruins of Dale to help push the filth from the fallen city. Azog had been run through, Bolg had fallen to his 'death', and the line of Durin was dangling -- barely clutching on to dear life. Grief for the fallen began to coat the area like a blanket of depression - but the attention of those mourning would soon be demanded. To the south, a thick cloud of black smoke, riddled with steady red lightening and the loud ominous crack of its thunder began to work its way toward them. This was no ordinary storm. These clouds reached from the skies down to the ground, rushing its way toward them like a typhoon, flooding the lands, splashing up against the mountains  and sinking into its valleys.

Once engulfed into its thick, dangerous-looking mass, all would feel suffocated. Their bodies would feel the tugging and tossing as the curse took them, fogging their minds and claiming the people of middle earth as it's prisoners. Out with the old memories, in with the new, magically appropriated to make sense in the new realm where they would be relocated; safe from Sauron's eventual rule, but also unable to stop him. The enactors of the curse were the first to go, but unlike the others, they embraced the smoke and welcomed the rough ride into a new land where they would have a say in how things were done and how the people related with one another, unlike their home realm.

In Storybrooke, all things had just been bright, sunny, but chilly. Winter had begun, no snow had fallen as of yet, but it would come - eventually. Thanks to the weather it didn't take long before all the towns people noticed the sudden cover of black clouds. Gasps and cries of 'another curse' filled the streets as a panic ensued and everyone ran to find their loved ones. Little did they notice that the cloud had not come for them, but clashed like a wave against the barrier that surrounded the town, creating magical, electrical -like pulses to light up their skies.  Their barrier rejected the curse - because there was no space for what it carried. Instead, the smoke cascaded into the area due north of the town line, massing into a giant dome-like cloud for a few moments. Then, it slipped away, leaving in its place, a town with a population just under three hundred. Upon inspection of the north, just over the town line, a sign was posted, just as historic looking as Storybroooke's:

NOW LEAVING STORYBROOKE.

WELCOME TO MIDDLETOWN.

Middletown is reeling after the murder of the bank owner, Mr. Serafim [Smaug] and the attempted murders of Daric King [Thorin], Phillip McNeil [Fíli], and Keegan McNeil [Kíli]. Yet before the investigation can truly get underway, the town sheriff, Leo Forrest [Legolas] has disappeared under suspicious circumstances. Tara Forrest [Tauriel] finds herself as the acting sheriff in his absence and must contend with the suspicious nature of her father, Trenton Forrest [Thranduil], as he turns his sole focus unto the town pastor, Alexander Orton [Azog].

Meanwhile the Guardian Angel's Hospital goes under lockdown at the request of Edward Nightingale [Elrond] who leaves matters in the capable hands of his daughter, Adele Nightingale [Arwen], while he checks in on the patients in a secret ward reserved only for the elite. There, Grace Goldbloom [Galadriel] awakens from a coma-like state of which she has been in for the past two weeks. In spite of the hospital being on lockdown, Brad Orton [Bolg] has disappeared from the hospital without a trace.

Two weeks have elapsed and little progress has been made in the attempted murders of Daric King [Thorin], Phillip McNeil [Fíli], and Keegan McNeil [Kíli]. In spite of being responsible for the death of Mr. Serafim [Smaug], Devan Bowman [Bard] has been awarded the ***** for his heroism in defending Daric King [Thorin], Phillip McNeil [Fíli], and Keegan McNeil [Kíli] from the unknown assailants who are still at large. Devan Bowman [Bard] has returned to the quiet life of raising his three children while Mr. King and the McNeils are eager to be released from Guardian Angels Hospital.

Grace Goldbloom [Galadriel] has awoken from her second lapse into a coma and at the insistence of her husband, Christopher Goldbloom [Celeborn], is recovering within the safety of her home. Also recovering is Sheriff Leo Forrest [Legolas] who is struggling to regain time lost while captive by unknown assailants, leaving not only the investigation of the attempted murders but also his abduction to his sister and the town deputy, Tara Forrest [Tauriel].

Trenton Forrest [Thranduil] is pursuing his own line of investigation with the aid of his secret allies, believing that Alexander Orton [Azog] is either involved or responsible in the abduction of Leo Forrest [Legolas]. The two are kept from each others throats by the efforts of Tara Forrest [Tauriel] and Bradley Orton [Bolg]. There is but one thread within this web that can unravel this tale and Uriana [Ungoliant] unleashes her new toy, Mai Orton [Merenwen] upon these two titans.

Rumor begins to spread through Middletown of shadow plundering homes and shops alike, indiscriminately while those nearest cowered in sheer terror. The Black Rider seeks that which will restore its Master's power and rain down eternal darkness upon all.

Things have quickly escalated in the once sleepy town of Middletown. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, led by Agent William Andrews [Witch King], are seeking out terrorists in possession of a top secret weapon believed to have disappeared years prior in a distant war. While his agents seek out the one named 'Fox' in addition to those who fled the Forrest estate, Agent William Andrews [Witch King] turns his attention towards Trenton Forrest [Thranduil], Christopher Goldbloom [Celeborn], Alexander Orton [Azog], and Bradley Orton [Bolg].

Edward Nightingale [Elrond] returns to the Goldbloom's estate to find the house a smoldering ruin. Following a trail of bloody snow, inside the he finds the unconscious and sooty form of his mother-in-law, Grace Goldbloom [Galadriel] who has tightly clutched to her an ancient leather book titled "The Lord of the Rings".

Leo Forrest [Legolas], Tara Forrest [Tauriel], Adele Nightingale [Arwen], and Mai Orton [Merenwen] have arrived at Point Echo, taking refuge beneath the home of Robin Brown [Radagast]. They are joined by Sir Solomon White [Saruman] and Sir Merlyn Grey [Gandalf]. While awaiting the return of Edward Nightingale [Elrond], they begin to discuss the next steps to be taken to recover Trenton Forrest [Thranduil]

Daric King [Thorin], Phillip McNeil [Fíli], and Keegan McNeil [Kíli] have been released from the hospital and now seek to reacquaint themselves with Dwight Robertson [Dwalin]. Much has transpired during their stay in the hospital and while they have been instructed to take it easy, only time will tell if such will be permissible.

Will Gabriel [Glorfindel] and Brandon Fox [Bilbo] escape Middletown before Agent William Andrews [Witch King] and his men find them? Or will Middletown be plunged into the depths of darkness and the worlds lost to a nameless foe all fear?

In the three weeks following the FBI's incursion upon Middletown, Maine, the citizens of the small town have turned their attention and efforts towards cleaning up and rebuilding the wanton destruction exacted upon them. The town council, comprised of Sir Solomon White [Saruman], Sir Merlyn Grey [Gandalf], Edward Nightingale [Elrond], Grace Goldbloom [Galadriel], and Christopher Goldbloom [Celeborn], have gathered in the town hall to discuss rebuilding efforts as well as what recourse Middletown will take upon the United States Government for their grievous overstep.

As fortunes would have it, Guardian Angel's Hospital remained relatively undamaged and Leo Forrest [Legolas] has been moved there where he remains in a medically induced coma. Ever vigilant and watchful at his side is Adele Nightingale [Arwen] who has not left his side since his surgery. While Leo Forrest [Legolas] appears to be resting peacefully, his spirit wanders through Middle-Earth on a quest given to him by the White Lady, Galadriel. The Dark Lord has dispatched the Nine to find Legolas, led by the Witch-King of Angmar, who is eager to please his master after a failed attempt to turn the Lady of Light to the darkness.

In the absence of her brother, Tara Forrest [Tauriel] has stepped into his shoes as Middletown's Sheriff. Her first task is into the investigation of the two attempted murders of Leo Forrest [Legolas]. The primary suspect in both attempts is none other than Mai Orton [Merenwen] who was already in custody prior to the FBI's incursion and is suspected of playing a prominent role in the second attempt. Alexander Orton [Azog] has posted bail for his adopted daughter/niece who is remanded to house arrest pending her trial. As Mai Orton [Merenwen] struggles to grapple with her newfound consciousness thanks to Melanie Slovenzky [Meldainiel], Bradley Orton [Bolg] is tasked by his father, Alexander Orton [Azog], with ensuring that Mai Orton [Merenwen] remains compliant with her house arrest.

The tension between Trenton Forrest [Thranduil] and Alexander Orton [Azog] have reached new heights. Now that Trenton Forrest [Thranduil] has peaked beneath the veil and seen the faces of his enemies, he stands at the ready to oppose Alexander Orton [Azog] who seeks to seize the opportunity to sew further chaos amongst Middletown's residents, attempting to turn against those who were entrusted to protect them from outside threats.

Having counted each and every minute that Leo Forrest [Legolas] remained in a coma, the overwhelming relief Trenton Forrest [Thranduil] felt when he found his son had awoken was doomed from the very moment Leo Forrest [Legolas] opened his eyes. Within a matter of hours, Leo Forrest [Legolas] along with Mai Orton [Merenwen], have disappeared in the middle of the night, leaving no hint nor trace as to his whereabouts or intentions. With a multitude of questions left unanswered, Trenton Forrest [Thranduil] has spent the last three days interrogating a man who is no stranger to pain or suffering. Having endured and survived far worse than anything Trenton Forrest [Thranduil] has in store for him, Alexander Orton [Azog] takes great pleasure in tormenting his captor.

Having violated the conditions of her parole, Mai Orton [Merenwen] has been summoned back to court once more where the Honorable Sir Solomon White [Saruman] will decide her fate. She arrives to the courthouse, accompanied by none other than Sheriff Leo Forrest [Legolas]. Whether from his injury or his experiences, Leo Forrest [Legolas] is not the same person he once was. No one feels this more acutely than his sister, Tara Forrest [Tauriel]. Concerned by the change in her brother, Tara Forrest [Tauriel] has been searching Middletown for any trace of Leo Forrest [Legolas] and Mai Orton [Merenwen], unaware that in doing so, she is about to reveal a rather dark and dangerous plot...

Daric King [Thorin] and Diana McNeil [Dís] have been summoned before the Town Council as they convene one month after the FBI's unlawful assault and invasion. As members of the CIA and FBI and citizens of Middletown, their loyalty will be tested as they answer a battery of questions from Edward Nightingale [Elrond], Christopher Goldbloom [Celeborn], Grace Goldbloom [Galadriel], Sir Solomon White [Saruman], and Sir Merlyn Grey [Gandalf]. Will the leaders of Middletown seek restitution from the United States government? Or will they decide upon another course of action?

Interlude

In the days that follow A Town Divided, Sheriff Leo Forrest [Legolas] seeks out Middletown's resident psychiatrist, Grace Goldbloom [Galadriel], in the hopes that she can help him uncover the missing memories of his own past and to learn more about his own father, Trenton Forrest [Thranduil]. As details emerge and truths are revealed, there is but one question that remains: What will Leo Forrest [Legolas] do next?

Two months have passed since Daric King [Thorin], Phillip McNeil [Fíli], and Keegan McNeil [Kíli] were ambushed in the alleyway by Mr. Seraphim [Smaug] and a handful of thugs. Having sustained injuries that would have killed anyone, it is a miracle that any one of them survived the attack, let alone all three. Through the miracles of medicine and the dedication of the staff at Guardian Angel's hospital, Daric King [Thorin], Phillip McNeil [Fíli], and Keegan McNeil [Kíli] have recently awakened from their respective coma's to find that Middletown has been plunged into utter chaos. Against medical advice, Daric King [Thorin], Phillip McNeil [Fíli], and Keegan McNeil [Kíli] check out of the hospital and return home to find it has been destroyed.

Now homeless, they join hundreds of others who have likewise lost their homes due to the FBI's incursion. Yet all is not lost as dozens of Middletown's citizens step forward to open their doors and homes to those displaced by the attack. Daric King [Thorin], Diana McNeil [Dís], Phillip McNeil [Fíli], and Keegan McNeil [Kíli] soon find themselves in Mistwood estates where Tara Forrest [Tauriel] has agreed to give her new home to this displaced family in need. Afterall, with Middletown's Sheriff, Leo Forrest [Legolas], now in a coma, Tara is now the town's acting Sheriff and given recent events, will hardly need the space. With Harold Warden's [Haldir] help, she picks up where her brother left off on the attempted murder case of Daric King [Thorin], Phillip McNeil [Fíli] and Keegan McNeil [Kíli] which went cold two months ago.
