During World War II a banner with a gold star was presented to the families of the fallen. Over 421,000 Americans from large urban areas to small rural communities perished between 1941 and 1945 when the World was at war. Oneida County in New York is one of the many counties across the United States that had its young people participate in this war and some of these individuals did not return alive. These are the fallen.

*Note: The entire list of Oneida County Fallen will appear here as progress is made. This page was last updated on October 30, 2025. Question about this project can be directed to Jim Greenberg at jim.greenberg@oneonta.edu.
1 Kenneth Arnold is from Delhi, NY not in Oneida County. Why he is listed on the offical list from Oneida County is unclear. He is included here out of respect.
2 John Backius' connection with Oneida County is unclear to the author. He was born and raised in the Boston area and at some point came to Oneida County. I could not find definitive evidence to include in his profile.
