Lloyd Verne Allen was born on July 6, 1908 in Burke, NY to Leslie Allen and Myrtle Parrott. His parents were married on May 23, 1907 in Rochester, NY. A 1921 Census of Canada recorded the family living at 67 Frizzell Ave. in Toronto, Canada. A 1931 Census of Canada recorded Lloyd living with his mother and younger sister Ruth in an apartment complex,York, Ontario, Canada. His parents were divorced on October 20,1933 in Michigan.
He married Hilda Woods on April 2, 1935 in Wayne County, Michigan. He was 26 years old at the time, she was 24. Their names appeared in a March 29, 1935 Detroit Free Press newspaper on pg. 28 under "Marriage Licenses". Their marriage lasts only a few months, divorcing in August 1935. They have no children together.
The 1940 US Census recorded that he was from Detroit, Michigan had attended college for one year, was a salesman and was living on John St. in Utica, NY. He registered for the draft on March 20, 1942 in Utica, NY. He was 6' 1 and 1/2" tall and weighed 202 pounds. A big man for his time. He had brown hair and brown eyes. He was at the Utica Rescue Mission on Genesee St. at the time. His home address was Reg. Board #1, Leavenworth, Kansas. This is the address for the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks Board #1. At the time this was a federal penitentiary annex to alleviate overcrowding in federal prisons.

He doesn't wait to be drafted and enlisted in the service through Albany, NY on October 9, 1942. His service number was 12171122. He appeared on the Morning Reports for the 1st Medical General Laboratory in October 1942. The 1st Medical General Laboratory was activated on March 20, 1942. Its main objective was to perform laboratory services for the armies to ensure the health and well being of the troops. During October and November 1942 the 1st Medical General Laboratory received a large number of recruits from New York.
Thanks to U.S. Army Morning Reports, we have glimpses of his military career. In August 1943 after almost a year in the service we know he was already a Tech5 in rank (similar to a corporal) and that he was at Fort Sam Houston, Texas . From there he was transferred to the Headquarters Detachment, 8th Service Command in Dallas, Texas on September 1, 1943. He was still a T/5 in rank but has been arrested and confined to quarters for being "AWOL". He appeared again in the Morning Reports on September 8, 1943 as still arrested and now confined to Dallas MP Stockade 2000. On September 23, 1943 he is reduced in rank from T/5 to Private.
He died on December 20, 1943 at Fort Sam Houston, Tx from a brain tumor (hemangioblastoma). His occupation on his death certificate is Soldier, U.S. Army. His home address on the certificate was 12923 Winthrop, Detroit. His body was buried in the Grand Lawn Cemetery, Detroit, Michigan, Section R, Block 33.
