Apply to participate in SEG student programs, such as:
SEG/Chevron Student Leadership Symposium, a program for 50 student chapters officers focused on developing leadership skills that includes an address by the SEG President, best practices presentations from selected Student Chapters, professional leadership coaching, an organized team building activity, and a Strategic Problem Solving Session with the SEG Executive Committee.
SEG/ExxonMobil Student Education Program, a 2 - 2½ day short course that prepares college students for the challenges of an oil industry career. The program includes lectures and exercises directly related to geoscience / geophysical work performed in the oil industry. ExxonMobil provides course materials, team exercises and instructors. This program has been canceled for now, because of the pandemic, but we hope it will return soon!

Apply for the SEG Technical Program Travel Grants:
In addition to the discounts to attend the SEG Annual Meeting, student or recent graduates members who had a abstract(s) selected to present can apply to receive a travel grant of USD $ 1000 to participate in the event.
Apply for scholarships:
Thanks to the generosity of donors, SEG offers a variety of scholarship opportunities for students around the world. Scholarships range from $ 500 to $ 10,000 per academic year - the average is $ 2,600.
Request financial support to organize field trips:
The Field Camp program offers grants ranging from $ 1,000 to $ 20,000 per year per project (depending on available funding) to fund proposed field trip projects that impact the geophysical profession or geoscience students.
Apply for the SEG Near Surface Geophysical Research Award:
The intention of this annual award is to provide a research grant(s) in support of an undergraduate or graduate student in good standing, enrolled in a relevant academic program at an accredited institution, and engaged in near-surface geophysics research. The award is intended to offset some expenses directly related to the awardee's near-surface geophysics research; including field data acquisition, laboratory studies, specialized computer software, or other general activities related to the completion of the research program.
Request financial support to disseminate knowledge of geosciences:
The SEG Student Chapter Outreach Grant provides support for student chapter projects and initiatives that make a significant impact within their surrounding community or schools to raise awareness of the field of geosciences.
Examples of projects include: holding workshops for teachers or community members that focus on local geoscience-based problems (e.g., sinkholes, earthquakes, landslides, water availability), providing hands-on activities for community or school events such as “science days”, supporting a summer camp for students and/or science teachers, serving as advisors for students and teachers involved in geoscience themed science fair projects, or developing virtual geophysical field trips and data analysis activities to be shared with local high schools and community colleges.
Participate in competitions / programs:
SEG Challenge Bowl, an international contest testing student’s breadth and depth of knowledge about the field of geoscience. Winning teams in regional competitions receive support to attend the SEG's Annual Meeting in the United States;
EVOLVE, program that offers students direct experience in conducting multidisciplinary subsurface integration projects using real-world seismic, wireline, core, production, and other data. Finalist teams receive support to attend the SEG's Annual Meeting in the United States.
