1st Summer Summer School in Oil and Gas
The 1st Summer School in Oil and Gas was organized by the chapter in partnership with the SEG-EAGE chapters of UFF and UERJ, with support from the Brazilian Geophysical Society (SBGf) and SPE Brazil Section, and sponsored by Halliburton.
Held between January 11 and February 12, 2021, the 1st Summer School was an online and free extension course with a total duration of 52 hours.
During the 5 weeks of the course, almost 500 participants - Brazilian undergraduate and graduate students in geosciences - attended 37 lectures and a round table given by experts from different areas and companies/institutions that provided participants with a view of geosciences, passing through all areas of the oil and gas industry.

Introduction to MADAGASCAR
Also in January, we had the Introduction to Madagascar course in partnership with the Faculty of Geophysics at Para Federal University.
MADAGASCAR is a suite of programs for analysis and processing of multidimensional data (with emphasis on geophysical data) based on the concept of reproducible experiments.
Taught by Dr. Daniel Leal Macedo, associate professor at UFPA, the course consisted of 20 hours of practical classes for undergraduate and graduate students.
The classes recordings are available here.
Women in Geosciences
On March 17 and 18, the chapter organized, in partnership with the chapters SEG Women's Network Brazil and SEG-EAGE of UERJ, and with the support of the Brazilian Geophysical Society (SBGf) and the NGO Cais Mentoria , the event Women in Geosciences.
The event, in honor of the women's month, featured two round tables, the first on how the profession in geosciences has changed over the years and the second with professionals from academia and industry talking about the differences found. At the tables, we had the participation of 10 fantastic women and professionals and the tables were mediated by the leaders of SEG WN Brazil, Odette Aragão and Isabela Albuquerque.

Scientific dissemination in times of pandemic
On May 6, the chapter had a chat with Katia Pinheiro, researcher at the National Observatory, about scientific dissemination and the difficulties generated by the pandemic.
Katia works in several scientific dissemination projects as coordinator of the MOSAIC Group.

On May 22nd we had the 2021 SEG Challenge Bowl Latin America Regional, with the participation of 16 teams and presented by Peter Duncan, creator and organizer of the SEG Challenge Bowl.
To prepare the students, we organized a chat with Peter Duncan before the event, in which he talked about the competition and runned a live test of the app to help students prepare. The chat recording can be watched here.
The three finalist teams from the regional, from the universities Nacional de La Plata and Nacional de Tucumán, will participate in the world final in October.
Researcher around the world
On July 22nd we had a chat with Leonardo Uieda about his academic and professional trajectory, free software, academic careers, opportunities abroad and much more.
Leonardo graduated in geophysics at USP and took a master's and doctoral degree at the National Observatory. Since then, he has been a professor at UERJ, a researcher at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and is currently a professor at the University of Liverpool. Since graduation, Leonardo research potential methods - gravimetry and magnetometry - and has developed open-source software for processing, modeling and visualizing geophysical data.

The chapter participated in the Integrated Annual Conference and Exhibition - IMAGE'21 organized by SEG and AAPG, which took place September 26th to October 1st.
As one of 53 students selected to participate in the 2021 SEG/Chevron Student Leadership Symposium, President Isabela Dantas de Albuquerque presented the activities organized by the chapter in 2020 and 2021.
