OMSYP started its roots from the annual program of the Provincial Youth Development Council of Oriental Mindoro called the Provincial Youth Parliament. Since 2015, PYP has been a regular training funded by the Provincial Government. However, since it is only a program it was not institutionalized, resulting to absence of trainings and activities in some years and the non-involvement of its trained participants.
In 2018, after the 2nd batch of PYP, its Presiding Officer then and now founding president and chairperson of OMSYP decided to register OMSYP to the Youth Organization Registration Program (YORP) of the National Youth Commission to formally create it as a civil society organization. OMSYP was then granted and accredited by NYC last 2019.
Since then, OMSYP has conducted numerous activities other than the parliamentary training and used the social media platform to advance its advocacies. It has also produced young public servants serving as government officials and employees, as well as student council leaders and community leaders.
In 2021, OMSYP underwent major reorganization and rebranding, providing a wider opportunity to empower, lead and capacitate the youth. Despite limited resources and the challenges of time, OMSYP remains committed to its vision of producing globally-competitive social legislators and leaders.
