Omid's Journey
Omid's Journey
Omid is a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta, focusing his doctoral research on the development of BCI-controlled wearable robots for children with disabilities in collaboration with the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. He received his M.Sc. degree in Mechatronic Engineering from the Electrical Department at K.N. Toosi University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2019. He received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering with a major in Control from Shahed University, Tehran, Iran, in 2015.
He has participated in many robotics competitions(RoboCup Worldwide, RoboCup Asia-Pacific, RoboCup Iran opens international competitions ) in different fields. Not only was he working in the "Omid Robotics Team" in the small-sized soccer league since his BSc studies, but he also participated in the "Unbounded Designers" team in the Humanoid League. Furthermore, he was a robotics researcher in the ARAS Research Group and the Center of Excellence in Robotics and Control Mechanical Engineering Department at K.N. Toosi University of Technology and worked on the design and fabrication of a lower-limb walking assistance robot. He also has research experience in surgical robotics, having worked at Sina Robotics and Medical Innovators Co., LTD. Additionally, recently he focused on the development of new algorithms for the control and motion planning of continuum robots at the Advanced Robotics and Automated Systems (ARAS) Lab at K.N. Toosi University of Technology. In his research, he has developed new algorithms for robot control and motion planning that are more efficient and data-efficient than traditional methods. he has also applied these algorithms to the development of new surgical robots and the automation of surgical procedures. His current research interests include Rehabilitation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Data fusion, model predictive control systems, and Artificial Intelligence.
