OMER BELEIL
A pioneer in the field of Urology and Transplant Surgery, performing the first kidney transplant in Sudan in 1974. He has made valuable contributions to medicine throughout his tenure. He has authored numerous research articles and some of the many positions he’s held include: Transplant Surgeon at UCLA Hospital, Founder of Soba University Teaching Hospital, Director General of the Arab Medical Specialisation Board and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Khartoum.
To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the death of Professor Omer Beleil, his family made the decision to relaunch his memoir, Two Lives. Over the span of six months across three continents, Omer Beleil’s family have edited the book, discovered never before seen photos and learnt more about their family history. This project has kept the family connected during the global 2020 pandemic and has revealed a valuable family history to his young grandchildren.
