Hilary Catron

Show up regardless of how you feel.  It doesn't matter how small the thing you do is.  Just show the hell up and do it.

Because 2 things will happen:

I started running 11 years ago with the goal of proving to myself I could complete a half-marathon.  I did, thanks to support from the ORC distance clinic.   I have since run >15 road and trail 13.1 distances.  I decided I needed to complete a marathon to celebrate turning 40!  I completed Grandma's Marathon in June 2017 in just under 4 hours.   I was working through an injury during my training and this sent me to the pool on a regular basis.  My coach suggested I give triathlon a try because I loved to swim and was decently fast.

Though I did not like cycling, I tried my hand at a triathlon in August 2017 and was hooked!.  I have since completed 5-half-ironman races.  In 2022 I completed my first full ironman.  I also earned the All World Athlete Bronze Award from Ironman in 2022.   The ironman really reinforced all components of training:  Nutrition, Coaching, Strength, Injury Prevention and Sleep and Recovery.   I have also learned to love open water swimming and have completed three 5K open water swims.

I run a Taekwondo school alongside my brother.  I have been training 30+ years and have earned the rank of 6th Degree Black Belt under Grand Master Soo Kim-Universal Taekwondo Association.  I am also a Junior Olympic Medalist and USSA Nationals medalist.  I have used the mental strength and physical conditioning from my martial arts training to enhance my run and triathlon training.   I have also structured Women's Self-Defense courses for all ages and abilities.  I love sharing the ideals of empowerment and assertiveness to give women more comfort outside their homes and freedom to continue the activities they enjoy.

Much of my CORE blast class comes from the diversity in movement from martial arts as well as the improvements I have seen in my recovery and decreased "runner pains" from regular CORE and stabilization exercises.

I am currently a Registered Dietitian at Nebraska Medicine.  I work in Adult Intestinal Rehabilitation and Liver/Small Bowel transplant.  I am pursuing my PhD through UNMC MSIA program in Patient Oriented Research.  I am hoping to identify care practices that improve outcomes and quality of life for our patients.

Finally, Walter.  Walter is my rescue dog.  100# of love and goofball.
