Blood donation
I am a very frequent whole blood & platelet donor, and am passionate about encouraging others to try donating as there are ongoing dire blood shortages in the US. Donating blood is quick, nearly painless, and very safe! In NYC, it's easiest to donate through the New York Blood Center (NYBC). The American Red Cross is great too and is accessible throughout the US.
GoGetMath, Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics (ICERM), Brown University
GoGetMath is a five-day non-residential program for high school students to learn about STEM research, which I volunteered to help out with in 2025.
DEI Reading Group, Courant Institute
In the fall of 2021, I and a few other PhD candidates, postdocs, and professors thought that a reading group for members of the Courant community to discuss current research in diversity, equity, and inclusion might be a good resource for the department. I founded and ran the group from 2021-2024. See the reading group webpage here.
AM-SURE Program, Courant Institute
In summer 2023, I co-ran Courant's summer undergraduate applied math research program. This is a highly selective program for ~10 undergraduate students chosen from universities across the US. I ran weekly group meetings, as well as coordinated a summer seminar of faculty research talks for the students. See the program webpage here, and the summer seminar webpage here.
GSTEM Program, Courant Institute
NYU has a wonderful program for high school students interested in STEM research (see the program webpage here). I have mentored the research of some students in the program, and given some talks for program events.
RISE Program, Caltech
From 2017-2020, I was a weekly volunteer tutor for the Caltech RISE Program. This program provides low-cost tutoring for public high school students who are struggling in math and science.
