NARRENKULT

NARRENKULT translates to cult of fools. It was derived from my name (FONES, OLIVIA), and inspired by being told it would be foolish to waste my talent on pursuing my then dream of becoming a comic inker. Similar comments from friends, mentors and strangers would be made following it, but foolishly, I take no heed of any concerns... After graduating from SOTA in 2019, I wanted to take a break from drawing and try something new. When the lockdown happened, sewing made perfect sense with my mum's beginner sewing machine collecting dust right next to my spot at the dinner table, and the excess clothes my family had accumulated.

To make NARRENKULT happen, I began playing with the machine and taught myself to sew apparel from scratch with my own patterns. With a bit more confidence in my abilities these days, I'm trying to incorporate my drawings and prints into my designs.

Initially, I was curating collections of thrifted + vintage clothing under the name Thiccy Thrifts. It's been retired as I've moved on to selling handmade apparel and accessories.
