Giving Back to the Community

“The attitude of society towards charity is changing, more people have the urge to help others”. Oleg Boyko

As Oleg Boyko was an early investor in the FinTech industry, he was also an early supporter of social responsibility among businesses. As his investment and business began to grow, Boyko’s thoughts turned to giving back to those communities who needed it and in 2006 he founded the Parasport Foundation to support Paralympic athletes.

The foundation provides much-needed support, including financial assistance for the physical rehabilitation and social adaptation required by athletes and non-athletes with physical and sensory impairments. After seeing how important his foundation was to so many people, Oleg Boyko expanded his support for the Paralympic community by becoming the leader of Russia’s Paralympic Movement Development Committee, under the Russian Paralympic Committee.

The Paralympic Movement itself is unique in terms of ideological value, and the Paralympians certainly serve as a positive example for many. We want society to change its attitude towards this phenomenon, and now, with so many ways to support this community and reach others, there is a real opportunity for this to happen. Paralympic sport should be showcased as the vanguard of achievements and as a heroic achievement, rather than as something not to aspire to or show interest in. The degree of respect for people with disabilities in society is a good indicator of the social development of any country”. Oleg Boyko

Then, during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic, Oleg Boyko reaffirmed his support for communities in need and he worked hard to ensure the provision of face masks and gloves for those in the need of them. Through the foundation, he was also able to deliver targeted, specialist assistance to over 2,000 para-athletes across 35 regions in Russia.

Not only was the chairman of Finstar among the first wave of businessmen who recognized the importance of their social responsibility and supporting communities in need Oleg Boyko also regularly attends events dedicated to improving and developing philanthropy among businesses. Most recently he was among the invited attendees of the annual 2020 Forbes 400 Summit, which discusses and promotes the formation of new thinking on important social issues.

Paralympic athletes thank Oleg Boyko for his support during the coronavirus pandemic. Through his Parasport Foundation, medical masks and gloves were delivered to over 2,000 para-athletes representing 28 different sports across 35 regions of Russia.
