Community safety - call 999 for emergencies + 55 if you cannot speak
We are in discussion with several officials and organisations to review the idea of step free access to East Acton Underground station
Recent events have prompted The Alliance to make its activities more widely known. We believe that our lobbying for step free access to the tube station will be welcomed by businesses, residents and others who visit the hospitals and prison. We are also working with the council and Peabody Trust to tackle flytipping and waste because we believe this will contribute to community safety.
Following work by the former Old Oak Residents Association we have continued discussions with the ward councillors and the LET team and with Peabody Trust and we are lobbying for consistent service levels between Peabody and local authority-owned land. We are collecting data to benchmark with other similar inner London boroughs, including the charges for bulky waste removal.
The Old Oak estate is one of the first council estates, built by the London County Council at the beginning of the 20th century. It has a lot of green space which is part of its attraction.
As climate change becomes more evident, we want to ensure that we work towards sustainable and drought tolerant public spaces and to ensure the problems of hot weather are also addressed. We are in discussion with the Estates team at the Peabody Trust on this topic.
Ideas in the pipeline include:
Community health
Sustainable, drought tolerant planting in public spaces
Community resilience planning
Preserving our built environment
