This is the Commonplace Boke of Tommaso Franceschi, sometimes called Old Tom the Storyteller and its equivalents in various European languages or if he's putting on airs Signore Tommaso Franceschi, OE. As is, well, common, with a Commonplace Book, this is a loosely curated collection of things Old Tom finds interesting. Commonplace bokes have an interesting history that is better recounted elsewhere.
I have a YouTube channel, as well as a performer's page. You can also find out about the Order of the Platypus .
Old Tom is a character whom I portray within the Society of Creative Anachronism. He has something of a backstory, a trade, and a place where he lives. His backstory serves as an excellent excuse to know stories from many when/wheres that were known to Europeans before 1600.
Tomi was born on some channel island or another, he never knew which one. When he was quite young, he was "offered" an entry level position in a nautical, riparian, and coastal proactive salvage concern. He learned much of what that trade requires, but most especially how to wile away the hours below decks between more active operations. He does not know nor care whether or not he was a part of any "historic" events. He eventually settled in Firenze where he met and married the utterly delightful Beatrice, with whom he has two grown children. You are likely to find him swapping yarns with other old seamen.
He once carried a letter of mark and reprisal from the Baroness of Andelcrag. He dismisses rumors of the Bloody Llama as stories. He certainly never saw any such thing under his command.
Tommaso was awarded Arms by His Majesty EikBrandr and made a Companion of the Willow and of the Evergreen, both by Her Majesty AnneMarie.
He is apprenticed to Dame Estelle de le Mer.
At Pennsic L he was placed on Vigil for the Order of the Laurel by Their Majesties Louis and Sabd.
