How to reach Oxford
Oxford is well connected to London and major international airports. Below are the most convenient travel options:
By train:
Direct trains run regularly from London Paddington to Oxford Station (approx. 55–65 minutes).
From London King’s Cross / St Pancras International, take the Underground or a taxi to Paddington, or change at Oxford Circus / Paddington via the Tube.
Oxford Station is about a 15–20 minute walk or short bus/taxi ride from the city centre and most university buildings.
From London airports:
Heathrow Airport (most convenient):
Direct coaches run frequently to Oxford (approx. 70–90 minutes). Alternatively, take the train via Paddington (Elizabeth Line or Heathrow Express).
Gatwick Airport:
Take a train to London Victoria or London Bridge, then continue to Oxford via Paddington (approx. 2–2.5 hours total).
Stansted Airport:
Take the Stansted Express to London Liverpool Street, then the Underground to Paddington and continue by train to Oxford (approx. 2.5–3 hours total).
By coach:
Regular direct coaches (e.g. Oxford Bus Company / National Express) run from Heathrow, Gatwick, and central London to Oxford city centre. This is often the most economical option, especially from Heathrow.
Local travel in Oxford:
Oxford city centre is compact and walkable. Most university buildings, including the Schwarzman Centre, are within walking distance or a short bus/taxi ride from the station.
