Q. What does an acupuncture session include?
A: It includes a consultation (approximately 10 minutes) and an acupuncture treatment (30 minutes).
Effective prescription of acupuncture points depends on your problems and constitution.
Treatment:
10-15 min. consultation + assessment
20~25 min. acupuncture treatment (Express) or 35~40 minutes treatment (Standard)

Q: What is a consultation?
A: A consultation includes observations, various assessments, simple questions, and pulse/tongue diagnosis.
If your problem relates to muscles and joints, range of motion might be checked before treatment.
Q: Can I skip the consultation?
A: Acupuncture is not one-size-fits-all! You will receive more effective treatment by filling the forms, and answering the questions.
Q: Do needles hurt?
A: The pain from acupuncture is much less than that of a flu shot. Any acupuncturist will avoid organs, bones, joints, arteries and veins.
Q: Are the needles clean?
A: Yes. All needles are disposable.
Q: What can acupuncture do?
A: Acupuncture can help relieve acute and chronic pain, maintain well being, and relieve stress. In my practice, I focus on managing stress and pain from our daily lives, such as neck and back pain, painful periods, difficulty falling or staying asleep, and stress reduction. I hope you can enjoy acupuncture as your choice of traditional therapy.
Q: Do you take insurance?
A: Sorry, we don’t take insurance because of this price setting.
Q: I have difficulty staying still. How long do I have to stay still?
A: If you tend to fidget or move around, please inform the practitioner during the consultation. We will try our best to work with your condition.
Q: I don’t want to write my address. Can I leave it blank?
A: Please don’t leave it blank. If you are not comfortable filling out your home address, it is okay to write any contact address with which I can reach you, in case you forget something at the office (e.g. a coat or credit card).
Q: What's the difference between "Express 40 Minutes" and "Standard 60 Minutes"?
A: Express treatment is designed for first-time clients, needle-sensitive clients and busy clients. It does not include modalities (electro-acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, aromatherapy, etc.), and it is milder than standard treatment. Follow-up clients can choose either option, based on their schedule and preference.

Q: Can I bring my child along during my acupuncture appointment?
A: Our office is not a charming place for children, and there is heavy traffic around our location. If you plan to leave a child under 12 years old in the waiting room as you receive treatment, please bring another adult with you so they can act as chaperone.
Q: Can my children have acupuncture?
A: Yes, they can. If your children are 12 or younger, please stay with them during the session.
If your children are over 12 years old, you can stay in the treatment room, in the waiting area, or meet them after the appointment after you sign a consent form. They can be treated with your permission.
Q: I’m 17 years old. Do I need to bring one of my parents for a visit?
A: Yes, but only for the first time. Your parents should know what treatment you receive, and they have to sign the consent form before the session can begin. After your 18th birthday, you will no longer need a parent’s permission.
Q: Can I bring my dog?
A: Unless it is a guide dog, please refrain from bringing pets to the office. There are many choking hazards.
Q: Can I get a treatment for infertility?
A: We are not experts in infertility, and we do not have a pharmacy. If that is your issue, please consult your doctors first and visit experts with pharmacy partnerships. (Fertility doctors usually have a list of infertility specialists who work with them.)
Q: Can I bring my acupuncturist's prescription?
A: Please contact your practitioners first. They'd rather take care their clients than send them to others, unless their scope of practice differs. We may not be able to take a prescription, if we are unfamiliar with the subject of treatment (e.g. infertility and facial acupuncture).
Q: Do I need to come back?
A: Only if you want to. The decision is up to you.
