The utility of the building (utilitas according to vitruvio), is basically that of a habitable building, a dwelling, It has as only function to be the personal housing of Tomio Okamura. 

In addition to this, the utility also takes into account the organization of the space and the adaptation to the environment.

Firmitas

Already named utilitas, it is important to name the other two vitruvian components, since this building is a great example of application of all of them. 

Firmitas or stability, the Okamura House is the living representation of rigidity , firmness and robustness in its structures, all this results from two factors: 

• the first and the choice of material, brick, which is a material representation of all these concepts

• second the cylindrical shape, which being a regular figure follows the laws of physics and is therefore stable.
