On the slides is an indication of the sort of collaboration that your partner wants - be sure to read this carefully, as it defines how the collaboration is expected to proceed. Here follows a definition of the various options:
Low collaboration. Use each others work as initial inspiration and go in your own directions with it.
Don't expect to have much influence over your collaboration partner's work.
If an artist has a clear idea of where they want the story to go, they shouldn't pick this option.
If a writer wants a close dialogue about the story, they shouldn't pick art with this option
Make sure to at least give your partner a "yeah I'm still good" or an "I'm in trouble" before each Check In.
You and your partner work together on an outline or a general game-plan for the project, and then work mostly separately.
Prepare to share progress with your partner at least at Check Ins.
You and your partner work together on many aspects of the collaboration and you exchange ideas, ideally at least a few times every week or two.
Both partners should be prepared to share their work in progress files early.
This may include beta- or cheer-reading if desired.
You and your partner work together on both the art and the fic. All aspects are developed together (but the writer doesn't need to actually do art and vice versa). This may include beta- or cheer-reading if desired.
Be prepared to spend significant time developing the project with your partner, and be aware that sharing your progress frequently will be expected.
If a writer wants a large degree of control over the story, they shouldn't pick art with this option.
If an artist is unwilling to make alterations to the art to fit the story, they shouldn't pick this option.
Choose this option if you're undecided or not hard-set on one of the above, or if it depends on the writer.
You can indicate multiple levels on your claims slide.
During the event, if you're dissatisfied with the level of collaboration, talk to your partner about it. Most often these things are a matter of communicating clearly and early rather than any intentional ill-will from your partner. If you're unable to resolve the matter between the two of you, reach out to the mods on email or Discord.
