For this assignment I have to reflect on the technical skills I gained in the Office Training Simulations.
I thought I was proficient in Word! I have been using it since elementary school, but these simulations really helped me to realize just how much I was missing out on.
Automatic MLA Formatting: Generates citations and bibliographies.
Table of Contents Generator: Creates dynamic TOC's that update alongside your document.
Navigation Pane: Allows you to easily jump between sections of your document with headings.
I've been using PowerPoint since elementary school, I thought it was always straightforward and simple to use but after doing the trainings I realize there's a lot of key tools I was missing here as well!
Slide Master: Enables you to add images and change fonts for the entire presentation.
Presenter View: Allows you to see notes you added and the upcoming slides while presenting.
I never really used Excel until I started taking classes here at CCBC so it always seemed scary to use especially with all the formula and tables, etc. The simulations helped me get over these fears though!
Formulas and Functions: Perform calculations and lookup data across cells.
Charts/Graphs: Visualize data trends using pie, bar, or line charts.
Conditional Formatting: Automatically format cells based on their value.
Flash Fill: Automatically detect patterns and fill in the rest of a column.
I definitely learned a lot more than I thought, my skills between these three programs AND OneDrive as well have been sharpened, and I can NOW confidently say that I am proficient in using each of them.
