Sharing the Open Data bases with authorized users - The Information System
In order to become an authorized user (among scientists, water professionals, managers, between others) of the Open Data bases of the OLT observatory, one must send a request by mail to Xavier Lazzaro (xavier.lazzaro@ird.fr), OLT scientific coordinador, BOREA/IRD, and/or Javier Nuñez Villaba (jnunezvillalba@gmail.com), OLT joint coordinator, IIGEO/UMSA, who in return will email you three documents (two forms and one commitment). Each document is elaborated in three languages: Spanish, English, and French. It is sufficient to fill in/sign only the version in the language of your choice, and mail them back to the coordinators. The justification of your request will be evaluated. Once accepted, you will become an authorized user, and receive by mail, via WeTransfer, the databases requested. Through time, as soon as we are able to proceed with the validation process (most probably each trimester/semester), you will receive updates, unless exceptionally you would need them more frequently. We hope that our effort will be useful to you, and of course will appreciate any comment and suggestion that you may have to improve our work.
We give priority to requests from professionals who undertake to use this data for their research and/or monitoring/survey programs, and will publish their results/recommendations in indexed scientific journals and/or institutional reports, citing the OLT observatory as data source . Indeed, this will garantee that (i) we get the resources necessary to maintain the operation of our OLT observatory (contracts for staff) and maintain our equipments (HydroMet buoy, sondes, and boat), and (ii) we will insure the best quality and permanence for our data collection. In return, we will appreciate that you send us copies of your published works, which we will include in the cited bibliography of our OLT web page.
Presently, we are a very small team of scientists, students, and managers, with very little resources and no specific staff contracts, performing mostly voluntary work. With your support, we hope to be recognized and become a performing team in charge of the OLT observatory on Lake Titicaca, which will become a reference for this valuable ecosystem. So we deeply acknowledge your interest.
Thanks a lot, and best regards, XL & JNV
