We are looking for aspiring teachers who will earn a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college before the Residency Program Starts. You must demonstrate:
A commitment to teaching in Oakland Unified for a minimum of 4 years
Passion for serving students from diverse backgrounds in an urban environment
A strong commitment to social justice and equity
A commitment to ongoing learning, collaboration, and communication
Skillfulness in time management, planning, scheduling, coordinating resources, and meeting deadlines
Resilience and perseverance, especially when faced with challenges
A deep belief that all students can learn and a sense of responsibility for student learning
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
A desire to work with students and families from historically underserved communities
Work to meet the Basic Skills Requirement (through coursework or CBEST) and Subject Matter Competency (through coursework or CSET)
Enroll in a credentialing program through a partner university by August 2024
*Teacher Residents have access to test prep for the CBEST, CSET, RICA.
