Application for the 2025-2026 School Year

We have been looking for you!

We are looking for aspiring teachers who will earn a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college before the Residency Program Starts. You must demonstrate:

  • A commitment to teaching in Oakland Unified for a minimum of 4 years

  • Passion for serving students from diverse backgrounds in an urban environment

  • A strong commitment to social justice and equity

  • A commitment to ongoing learning, collaboration, and communication

  • Skillfulness in time management, planning, scheduling, coordinating resources, and meeting deadlines

  • Resilience and perseverance, especially when faced with challenges

  • A deep belief that all students can learn and a sense of responsibility for student learning

Application Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college 

  • A desire to work with students and families from historically underserved communities 

  • Work to meet the Subject Matter Competency (through coursework, CSET, or degree major in some cases)

  • Enroll in a credentialing program through a partner university by May 2025

  • All candidates must clear background checks through the CTC and OUSD. 

*Teacher Residents have access to test prep for the CSET and RICA.
