We are looking for aspiring teachers who will earn a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college before the Residency Program Starts. You must demonstrate:
A commitment to teaching in Oakland Unified for a minimum of 4 years
Passion for serving students from diverse backgrounds in an urban environment
A strong commitment to social justice and equity
A commitment to ongoing learning, collaboration, and communication
Skillfulness in time management, planning, scheduling, coordinating resources, and meeting deadlines
Resilience and perseverance, especially when faced with challenges
A deep belief that all students can learn and a sense of responsibility for student learning
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
A desire to work with students and families from historically underserved communities
Work to meet the Subject Matter Competency (through coursework, CSET, or degree major in some cases)
Enroll in a credentialing program through a partner university by May 2025
All candidates must clear background checks through the CTC and OUSD.
*Teacher Residents have access to test prep for the CSET and RICA.
