Wayne State University, Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance

Talent Scholarships: The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance offers talent scholarships that cover a portion of a BFA and BS student’s tuition, over four years.


Award Follow Up: Students who have been selected for a Talent Scholarship must visit the Wayne State recruitment table at ODF or email dancesuccess@wayne.edu to be eligible for consideration. All eligible students must apply and be accepted to Wayne State in order to receive a scholarship.

Northern Michigan University Department of Theatre and Dance

Students auditioning may be offered admittance to the Dance Major program at NMU, as well as departmental scholarships ranging from $250-$1000 per year (renewable as long as the student remains and major in good standing). Our dance program director, Karina Johnson, will be in communication with students regarding program admittance and scholarship offers via email.

Grand Valley State University

One scholarship will be for incoming dance majors and is contingent upon acceptance to Grand Valley State University. Award amounts generally range from $1000 to $4000 and are renewable up to a total of four years. Students with this award must maintain the highest possible level of dance performance, participate in the requisite major classes, and sustain a grade point average of at least 3.0.


One scholarship will be for full tuition plus room and board (if needed) to Grand Valley State University’s summer dance intensive, Accelerate.


Representatives from GVSU will follow-up with awardees that day if they stop by our table and/or by email after the event.

ALMA COLLEGE

Performing Arts Scholarship is $1,500 per year and our Distinguished Awards range anywhere from $3,000 - $8,000 per year.  


Students are offered these scholarships based on their audition and interest. If the scholarship recipients accepts the scholarship, they are required to audition for and perform in the Alma College Dance Company performance each semester. They are also required to take a dance technique class each semester. Distinguished Awardees are also required to take Choreogrpahy I, Dance History, and Dance Criticism during their four years at Alma College and present at Honor's Day during the final semester of their senior year.

WESTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY

We will be offering one student a $2500 dance scholarship. The requirements are the following:


Must apply for and be accepted to Western Michigan University by January 31, 2024 and by December 15, 2023 to be eligible for academic scholarships.


We will also be offering acceptances into our Dance Program with the same requirements listed above.

Central Michigan University

CMU Special Talent Scholarship $1,000 a year for 4 years. We have a letter and will communicate with recipients through e-mail. Multiple scholarships are available for qualified recipients.

Eastern Michigan University

EMU offers $1,000 to students for their first year. After that, the pool of scholarships opens considerably for Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors. Also, recipients of this scholarship are waived from the usual required on-site EMU audition.

Oakland University

We will offer up to 5, $500 talent-based scholarships with an opportunity to increase scholarship amount if the dancer is accepted at Oakland University, and performs an on-campus audition. If the dancer does not perform an audition on campus, the $500 will still apply if the dancer attends Oakland University as a dance major, otherwise the offer is null and void.
