Performance Evaluation & Feedback

(PLEASE COMPLETE A FORM FOR EACH DANCE)

PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS & FEEDBACK help dance groups to get a jump start on the competition/performance season! Bring your solos, duets, and group dances...your choice of style.  This intimate performance venue provides young dancers an opportunity to showcase choreography before a panel of distinguished artists from College/University & Professional Companies.

Our goal is to inspire and challenge dancers to take their rehearsals and performances to the next level! Our panel of judges will provide constructive feedback for each performance and will extend a special invitation for select groups/soloists to perform in the evening COLLEGE SHOWCASE CONCERT.

The judges assigned to your PE&F session will select 3 Semi-Finalists to be considered for performance in the College Showcase Concert.  The Semi-Finalists will be posted 15 minutes following each PE&F session.

All 12 Semi-Finalists will return to the PE&F room at 7:00 p.m. for the announcement of the 3 groups selected to perform in the College Showcase Concert at 7:30pm.

The 3 Finalists will perform in the opening of the College Showcase Concert on November 18, 2023 at 7:30p.m.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Who is eligible to perform in the PE&F?

A:  All dancers age 13-19.  Private dance studios, high school dance programs, and individual dancers are allowed to participate in the PE&F.  All genres are welcome.  Solos, duets, and large groups are welcome.  The Oakland Dance Festival is here to serve and support the entire dance community.

Q:  Should each dancer in my piece complete a form?

A:  No.  Only one form per dance should be completed.

Q:  Should each dancer in my piece pay the fee?

A:  No.  The fee is $40 per dance, not per person.  I know, it's hard to believe such an amazing opportunity is this affordable.

Q:  Are costumes required?

A:  Costumes are not required, but a uniformed look is suggested.

Q:  What if I don't want to perform in the College Showcase Concert?

A:  No problem.  The primary goal of the PE&F session is to provide the dancers, director, and choreographer with a fresh set of eyes and perspective to help you clean dances for the competition or concert season.  You can opt-out on your PE&F Form.

Q:  Is it possible to take a class and participate in the PE&F at the same time?

A:  Performing in the PE&F takes the place of a class session.  Please caution your dancers not to register for classes during your PE&F.

Q:  How do I find out if my group was selected as a semi-finalist in my session?

A:  Semi-finalists will be posted on a board located outside of the PE&F room at the end of each session.  If you are a semi-finalist, you will return to the same room at 6:10 p.m. for the announcement of the Finalists.
