The 2014 Fall Season was the first season ever for a Girl's Golf at Oak Park High School and it was eventful. We finished as Co-Champions of the new Coastal Canyon League, advanced to the CIF Team Regionals and took three of the four spots for the CIF Individual Regionals. Georgia Shevitt was the league MVP and Jewel Jorgensen and Karissa Toy were also first team All-League.
Although girl's golf did not begin as a team sport until the Fall of 2014, Oak Park has had girls qualify and play in the CIF Regionals and beyond. In 2005, Alison James became the first girl in Oak Park history to qualify for the CIF Regionals. In addition to golf, Alison also lettered in soccer and softball for Oak Park. In 2007, Danielle Kang qualified for CIF Regionals, won the regional tournament and qualified for CIF Finals. In 2008, Danielle made history again by being named 1st Team All Tri-Valley League during the boys' season. Danielle went on to win back-to-back US Women's Amateur Championships and currently plays on the LPGA Tour, with multiple wins including a major. In 2014, Jewel Jorgensen and Georgia Shevitt played and competed on the Boy's team in anticipation of the inaugural Girl's season in the Fall of 2014. In 2020 during the year of the virus, the team was undefeated and untied in winning the league championship and also became the Division 3 CIF Champions. In 2021 we were again undefeated and untied and moved into Division 1 where we went all the way to the SCGA qualifier. In 2021-22 Charissa Shang was recognized as the OPHS Female Athlete of the Year. She also becomes the first athlete to graduate and move on to Harvard, where she will study and play golf. Charissa also set what is certainly an area record and likely more when she shot -6, 30 at Sterling Hills. In 2022-2023 the team was undefeated and untied in league for the third year in a row and Derica Chiu set a school and league record with a -5, 30 over 9 holes at Sterling Hills in the first round of league finals. 2023-2024 was another great year for the women as we again went undefeated and untied in league, taking our league streak to 51 matches. We set another record as all 6 of the ladies were either 1st or 2nd team All-League and Lily Huynh was the league MVP as well as the All-County MVP. Lily leaves us to continue her education and golf at St. John's University in New York and we wish her the best. In 2024, sophomore Nina Xu was the All-County player of the Year making it a 3-peat for Oak Park women. Nina finished T-3 with a -3, 69 in CIF Finals, Oak Park's best finish in history for either gender. In 2025, Nina Xu was league MVP, Bianca Magnifico was 2nd as 1st Team All-League, while Mylei Chairuttanativech was 7th and Alexandra Chen was 10th to earn 2nd Team honors.
