Soccer Definitions:
Dangerous Play - any play that could possibly result in an injury to another player. This includes high kicks, slide tackles, and playing the ball while on the ground after a fall.
Drop -- Pass the ball "back" to your teammates towards your own goal. Done to relieve pressure
Near Post - The goal post that is nearest the ball in play
Far Post - The goal post that is on the opposite side of the field from the ball
Man-on - What you tell a player when an opponent is guarding them. Or is running to guard them
Mark-Up - Find a player to defend. This phrase is most commonly used on throw-ins and corner kicks when you don't want the opponent to receive the ball
Off Sides - A ball may not be played from the attacking team to an attacking player that is closer to the goal than the opponent's second last player.
Cherry-Picking - An attacking player continuously maintaining an off-sides position.
Switch - To change the "point of attack" from one side to the other. If one side of the field is congested with players, the player with the ball will kick it over to a teammate on the "open" side of the field
Throw-In - A proper throw-in requires that the ball be thrown with both hands, from behind the head, while keeping both feet on the ground and behind the sideline, until the ball is released
