Attendance at Seminar Sessions, Supervision Sessions, and one John Jay/NYLS legal screening or community partner screening (per month) are all mandatory. If you cannot attend a class session, please be courteous and notify me as soon as possible by email. Absences could be a basis for dismissal from the course if not explained or formally excused.
As with any client-related work, you can expect that your work load over the term will fluctuate. The general formula for expected hours is three to four hours per week per credit hour outside of class. For this four-credit course, that computes to an average of 14 to 16 hours per week, for a total of between 168 to 224 hours for the semester (14 weeks). In the Clinic, this number should be viewed as an average over the course of the term, and not as a requirement that you must meet every week. Some of your client-related work will take place in the clinic office, but much of your work can or must be done elsewhere and you may count hours of clinic work that you do outside the clinic office.
